Hmmm..well..those are a bit complex..there are screws underneath(usually around 10 to 14 of them)..and then a few under the keyboard, holding the palm rest down.

Driver download

Hi; I need a little more information from you. There are 5 variants of the Omnibook XE2, appended -DI, -DD, -DE, -dc, -DB. Please consult the bottom of your laptop to find the correct model number.
Once you find it, please select the appropriate driver download page from this link: (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-search.html?tab=1#/qryterm=Omnibook%20XE2%7C%7C&searchtype=s-002)

Where is the model number on an Xe3 omnibook laptop/notebook?

Wow that's an old notebook. Normally if you look on the bottom of the laptop it will give you the model number. But all you need for yours is the fact that it is an Xe3 Omnibook.

It has 2 memory slots and will only hold a maxium of 1 GB of memory which is 512mb in each slot.

Here is where I got that info below.

How do i replace the keyboard on a HP Omnibook 6000? I have removed the panel covering the speakers and removed those screws but something is still hanging up in the middle of the keyboard

Check on the bottom of the Omnibook for a screw that might be holding the keyboard in place. Or it may be a ribbon cable that has to be disconnected. Try to peek under and see.

Dismanteling case

You need to remove the keyboard... BE CAREFUL though. Look at the corners of the keyboad area, and you SHOULD see a small area to place a flat blade into so you can pop it up. DON'T just remove it... it has a small ribbon cable that connects to it and if you break this connector you will not be happy with yourself. You need to remove the bezels on the top of the PC as well. As with all Laptops, be VERY CAREFUL and check closely for the plastic tabs that lock everything in place. If you break one, it will lessen the stability or even make it impossible to put it back together.
PLEASE follow this link to the manual for the laptop to hlep you know how and what you need to check for:

Hdd password locked

HDD passwords cannot be bypassed, even by the manufacturer of the drive and/or laptop. This is to ensure that secured data is in fact secure, no matter how hard someone tries.

I have heard of data recovery centers that are able to dismantle the HDD in a clean room and read data bit by bit, but that would start around $2000.
