Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop

Networking my 2 computers is connected in router, one is connected properly on net.. another one is connected but i cannot browse the site.. i dont understand why.. im using asus RX3041. can u tell me what will i do with these.. both xp. thanks

Hi,

For you to be able to connect wirelessly you need to know the settings of your router. i've listed the steps on how will you access the router page so that you will be able to connect wirelessly. If you have question simple reply to my answer so that ill be able to help you.

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remeber the details.

4. Click on the Start button then click on Connect To. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

5. Try to browse. If Successful Rate me so that i can help others.

Setting up wireless router on a toshiba t215d-s1150r laptop


Hi,

First you need to make sure the driver of the wireless adapter of your computer is properly installed. Next you need to access the router settings page for you to know the type of securoty stored on the router. And lastly connect the router with an ethernet cable so that it will communicate with the computer to check the settings on the router. Ive listed below the steps on how to access the router. Feel free to make a follow up if you have further questions.


How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). My laptop is conecting but says limited or no connectivity but I have a strong wifi signal


Hi there,
Did a bit of research for you on this and came across a ten step set of instructions which should hopefully correct, or at least narrow down your problem:
Determine whether your network access is functioning properly (that you can reach local network resources and the Internet). If you are using a broadband Internet and Windows XP Service Pack 2, this message is often a false error report. See Microsoft Knowledge Base article 892896 for details on how to work around this error appropriately.
If your network access is non-functional. continue to the following steps.
If your computer connects to the network through a broadband router , resetting (powering off and on) the router may resolve the issue. If not using a broadband router, or if resetting your router only temporarily resolves the issue and the error message re-appears later, continue to the following steps.
If connecting to your network using Wi-Fi and using wireless security, your WEP or other security key may not be set properly. Check the wireless security configuration on your computer's network adapter and update if it necessary.
If connecting to your network using an Ethernet cable, your cable may have failed. Temporarily replace your network cable with a new one to determine whether this resolves the issue.
If using a broadband router and DHCP on your network, check your computer's IP address to verify it is valid and not a private address that starts with 169.254. An invalid address of the form 169.254.x.x signifies your computer's inability to obtain a usable IP address from your router.
To resolve DHCP configuration problems, proceed to the following steps.
Reboot your computer, router (if present) and broadband modem together, then re-test your connection.
If your connection remains non-functional, run the Windows Network Repair utility on your computer.
If your connection remains non-functional, update your router settings to change from dynamic to static IP address configuration, and set an IP address on the computer appropriately.
If your connection remains non-functional, unplug your router and connect the computer directly to your broadband modem. If this configuration is functional, contact the manufacturer of your router for additional support.
If your computer is connecting to your network directly through a broadband modem, or if your Internet access remains non-functional after following the instructions above, contact your Internet provider for support.

Ok so my laptop is connected to the wireless network connection I have it says speed 54.0 Mbps and signal strength excellent, but when I open internet explorer I'm not able to browse the web. What is my...


1.Log into router
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.

Dell pc wont pick up internet


There are wide issues that may occur, with a issue with "dell pc wont pick up internet" is very general, so please be specific, however i went over most issue step by step, hope this help
Make sure you have the correct IP scheme for your network. This would include the:
IP Address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
DNS Servers
Click on start, run, type in cmd, The run IPCONFIG /ALL. A sample where a router is used is in the following graphic.
IP Address:
If you have a router, common examples would be:
192.168.0.x, 192.168.1.x or 10.0.0.x
If you are directly connect to your DSL or Cable Modem, you should have an IP address that would correspond to something from your ISP.
What you don't want to have is something like 169.254.x.x. This means you are not getting and IP address assigned and needs to be resolved first.
Subnet Mask:
Also make sure you have the correct Subnet Mask. Most commonly this would be 255.255.255.0
DNS Servers:
Make sure you have the correct DNS Servers.
Sometimes this is the IP address of your router, so it would be the same as the Gateway IP.
Sometimes (as in this example), it is the actual DNS servers used by the ISP.
Possible causes for not getting an IP address assigned are:
1. Defective cable, network card or port on the router. Make sure you are using all known working components.
2. Your router is not configured for DHCP (which would automatically be assigning IP addresses).
This and can be done from that same command prompt you used to run IPCONFIG
2. Try pinging the router's IP address
e.g. ping 192.168.1.1
If you get a reply, then your connection to the router is working.
If you don't get a reply, then you need to double check your network card, cable, port on the router. You might also see if any other computers on the network can do the same.

3. Try pinging an external site by IP address
e.g. ping 4.2.2.1
If you get a reply, then you have a connection to the Internet.
If you don't get a reply, there are several things you can try:
1. Double check that the router is connecting to the Internet. Typically you can access the router through your web browser and check it's status.
2. Take the power off your DSL/Cable modem and Router. Plug the modem back in a wait a minute or so. Plug the router back in and wait a minute or so. Then restart your computer.
3. WINSOCK Fix - It is possible that the WINSOCK Registry entries have gotten corrupted. This is getting to be a more common problem. See WINSOCK FIX for clean ones you can download

4. Try pinging an external site by Name
e.g. ping www.yahoo.com
If you get a reply, then you have a connection to the Internet and DNS is working
If you don't get a reply, there are several things you can try:
1. Double check your DNS entries
2. You many need to use the same DNS IP address that your ISP or Router is using.
3. On rare occasions your ISP has problems with their DNS servers. But that is rare in comparison to misconfigured computers.

If your PING tests work but you are having problems browsing sites on the Internet
1. If you could ping external sites by both IP address and Name, but cannot browse the web, likely your web browser is misconfigured.
2. Double check that you don't have an incorrect or not needed Proxy server assigned.
For the Internet Explorer - Tools / Internet Options / Connections tab / LAN settings button. Uncheck both Automatically detect settings and Use a proxy server for your LAN.

on troubleshooting your Internet Connection

While there are many possible configurations, I'll try and cover the most common ones.

Making Sure You Have Correct IP Information
Basic PING Tests
Browser Configuration

Making Sure You Have Correct IP Information 1. Make sure you have the correct IP scheme for your network. This would include the:
  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask
  • Default Gateway
  • DNS Servers
2. There are a few ways you can see what IP addresses are being assigned.
But generally for:Win9x - Start / Run / command
Windows2000/XP/Vista - Start / Run / cmd

Cannot connect 2nd laptop to wireless internet.


go to your acer and go to net work then net work again and in the tabs above choose add device to net work click on that and put a usb flash drive in and download to flash drive and put the drive in hp and it should automatically run the set up and start to work
