The hinge screws on my Oster 76 keep coming loose. I added a lock washer but that doesnt help either

I have fixed a number of these. The screws are simple 6-32 pan heads and the fact that there is clearance between the hinge mechanism mounting hole and screw allows the screws to work loose. I replaced the pan head screws with 6-32 X3/8 flat head screws. The flat head screws fill the void and eliminate the side play. Thus ending the problem of loosening screws.

Is it the screws undoing or the brass inserts coming out of the body housing, if the screws are tight try leering the hinge away from the body if it pulls out then you will need a new body housing.

SOURCE: oster 76

There can also be a problem with the switch, which can be gotten to by unscrewing the the 2 screws at the end of the clipper . . .you must then test (with the thing unplugged!!!!!!!!!) to see if the switch wires are good or if the switch is broken by flipping the switch and or the toggle and then checking the wires with an ohm meter (easily available from radio shack or ?? for under 10 bucks or any kid who's into electronics. If the switch is good, when its turned on resistance goes to 0, if bad th switch shoes infinite resistance on or off . . .

If it hums and the motor is turning, but the blades don't move you need to replace the gear and or lever . . see this diagram

My oster 76 wont cut the hinge pops up everytime i turn it on i made sure the screws were on tight and still nothing Is there anything that needs to be replaced

If the hinge will pull up with your finger nails then it will need replacing. The hinge should be tight enough to hold the blade onto the clipper. Some models are fitted with a 'Latch' which should be pushed to release the blade if this is fitted and the release does not need to be pushed then a new latch needs to be fitted.

Oster Blade 918-306 Size Texturing Fits Oster Classic 76 Clipper, Power Pro, Power-teq And Star-te: Oster class 76 clippers....had them for a week and...

70ca16d.jpg Hope this helps, this is a tongue guide, you hopefully recognise it on your blade. If they are not paralell, then adjust them with pliers, both need to be perfectly vertical. When you put it on the clippers push the latch in as you close the hinge.
If it still wobbles then the next fe wthings need checking
1. The hinge screws on the clipper are tight, located either side of the hinge on the clipper.
2. The drive lever may be worn, thats the maroon peice of plastic sticking up at the top of the clippers, it moves from side to side when clippers are running.
3. If all seems fine up to now, your clipper should be fixed under warranty as it will involve changing parts covered by the warranty.

One od the two blade holder screw grommets has come loose from the housing/case. Need to replace. Need parts diagram.

Oster has their own website. Also some areas even have a shop to take your oster too. You might be able to get the screw there or a new plate. For if it keeps coming loose then it might be stripped.

Blade doesn't seem to seat properly - more of a gap - and is noisier. Trimmer "ploughs" thru a small amount of fur and then catches.

Oster clippers have two screws retaining the hinge assembly make sure that these are tight the can come loose, also check that the hinge assembly has not lifted away from the body of the clipper, there are two brass inserts which the hinge assembly screws into, they part of the molding occasionally they can pull out causing bad vibrations and poor clipping.
If this is the case you will require a new main body which is a little more technical to replace.

Run but will not cut

Are you sure you have Andis A5 or did you mean Oster A5 Clipper, if this clipper is A5 Clipper, You need to check the Lever for wear, The front of the Lever show wear on both side, Like white color and is not squad this Lever is worn. Need to replace. This Lever moves the blade side to side fully. if the Lever is worn the blade will not move fully side to side and the cutter blade the smaller blade will stay in the middle with hardly no travel to side to side and will not cut the hair even if you purchase new blades. Also I would like to mention if the Oster Locking Hinge is worn out and don't have the require tension to hold the blade in place the blade will not cut. How do you test the Oster Hinge on a Oster A5 Clipper,
(1) first close the hinge, in close potion with your finger nail try to open the Hinge, if the hinge slightly open or opens loose the Hinge is worn. if the Hinge is good it will not open or move and your nail may just brake your nail.
Many of my customers run into this type of problem, and the problem can be solve easily by checking these parts first.
One more item I would mention here if replace the A5 Hinge make sure you get the A5 Hinge not the Oster 76 Hinge they are driferrent, The A5 Hinge has on the back two wire's sticking out that fit on the Oster Latch for the A5 Hinge, the Oster 76 Hinge would not have these wire's on the back. I recommend replacing the Latch when you replace the Hinge. I hope this helps any body that have a A5 Oster clipper or A Oster 76 Clipper.

The shaving blades came loose and fell off my sunbeam shaver, how do i put them back on?

Make sure the clippers are running.
Make sure the hinge (the bit you put the blade on) is open, if it is not, prize it open with a flat head screwdriver.
With the hinge open and facing you, slide the blade on the hinge with the blade number/size facing you. Snap the hinge shut.

Where do you put the two little springs, and what do they do? My blades have started to rattle on clipper. Oster turbo clippers.

The springs probably go with the carbon brushes, to hold them in. To find the brushes, use a dime to unscrew the two circles on the side of the clippers.

The rattling could be from loose screws on the blade hinge. My turbo clippers did the same thing. The blades rattle if the screws are even slightly loose.

Temp too high

lamgrimes9,
Welcome to Fizya.,

You said, your Oster wine refrig won't lower its temperature below 76 degrees. I have it for about 5 months, and it worked fine all this time with a setting of 50 degrees. Now it refuses to lower its temp. It reverts back to 76 everytime. Can someone give me any ideas about what is wrong? FYI Mine did not come with an owner's manual.

Sounds like the Thermostat is bad.
