Lift the lid up and down,if you don't hear any clicking the lid switch broke,if that's not it check the motor coupling, take the two clips off that hold the pump in place, remove the two screws and the two clips that hold the motor in place and the coupling is on the back of the motor,if the washer is dead it's the lid switch,if it makes a grinding noise but doesn't move then it could be the coupling, let me know how you make out

i looked up your washer,it must be very old,it shows a drive belt in this washer but i've never seen that before in a kenmore washer.with the age of this waher if it wasn't the lid switch i wouldn't put any money into it.the money it will cost to fix it if you have to call someone in you'd only need a few more bucks to buy a new washer.sorry and good luck

Kenmore Washer 70 series Model #110.22722100 won't spin

Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. OR

My Kenmore 70 series is 18 years old. It will not

Hello. Since your machine is 18 years old and the agitation/spin is costly to repair I would definitely recommend a replacement washer.

Kenmore series 70 washer will only fill with water.

I recently had this problem. It was found that the main drive belt broke and the washer would fill but not spin, agitate or drain. I replaced the belt and everything worked again. A defective or disconnected cover switch would also cause the same problem.

If it drains and won't spin you have to replace the direct drive coupling.

Why My Kenmore 70 Series Washer Won't Drain Or Spin?

You need to replace the lid switch. This is located under the case. you have to take the case off to change this part. This is done by taking the 2 screws out of the front of the control panel. Then flip the panel back and remove the 2 brass clips that hold on the case. Then you can remove the whole washer case to get acces to the lid switch. This is a very common problem and an easy problem to fix.

Kenmore 70 series will not drain or spin

It sounds like the lid switch. If it ws the coupler the water would drain. Check to see if the lid switch is clicking when you put the lid down. replace the lid switch. You have a great washer. Fairly cheap fix.

Kenmore Washing Machine 70 series

You most likely have a broken coupler between the motor and gearcase.
You can buy the part for about $10 or have someone come out and replace it for about $150-200.
If you will post the complete model number from the the washer so I can see which style cabinet you have, I will try to walk you through the repair. It isn't very complicated if you are handy with home repairs.
With the age of the machine it probably just needs a coupler, but it could also have a problem in the transmission or basket drive that has caused the failure.
