How do you access the light bulb in a Magic Chief Microwave MCD1611W

Quoting from link:

"Unfortunately the microwave will need to be taken apart to replace the bulb. You'll need a size T-20 safety torx bit screwdriver to remove the screws coming in from the back of the microwave around the right left and top edges. Start by unplugging the microwave. Then remove all the screws going into the outer shell and then the outer shell will pull straight back, up, and off. Now you have access to the bulb on the right side of the microwave cavity so you can replace it. The reason Magic Chef did this was because it forces you to unplug the microwave. Before they allowed you to change it by just opening the door and people wouldn't unplug the microwave which would cause the display board to short out when you replaced the bulb."

How to replace light globe

You will have to take the whole machine apart to do this. This will be a big job. There is one thing you must be careful of. You must protect yourself from being electrocuted by the capacitor. It can carry thousands of volts.
You may have a really hard time finding the bulb for some models. I have had such problems.
God bless your efforts.

Replacement of microwave lightbulb

Can you supply a make and model number? Most microwaves have fairly easy access to the light bulb from the back. Some even have a panel with a screw or few to access it, while others need to be taken apart more dutifully. If the microwave still functions as normal with the only issue being the light, then the chances are the bulb has blown, and yes, it shouldn't be a terrible issue to replace it.

I would like to know if it is possible to change a light bulb in the LG solardom Microwave without calling an electrician?

If your owner's manual doesn't cover lamp replacement, you will have to take the oven apart to do it.

If you don't have your manual, you should be able to download it from here.

I have a diagram at my site which helps you find & replace many GE cooktop and cavity light bulbs. Other models are similar. It's here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and for many brands by entering your full model number here:

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs!

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there.

There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), too.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

If yours is an Advantium type, the following instructable should help:

GE microwave interior light bulb replacement.

It's pretty simple as long as you have an offset phillips screwdriver...

Of course, be sure to disconnect power to microwave and be sure not to touch the new halogen bulb with fingers.

First, remove upper vent panel and remove inner filter (same directions for just replacing inner carbon filter):

Then, remove inner plastic grille (2 screws) and final screw on left side of metal "air duct" - here's where you'll need the offset screw driver (and a little patience!):

Then, you can gently lift the sheet metal panel, find the light housing, squeeze and remove/replace :)

That's it...just replace bulb and reverse for reassembly. Be sure to keep track of screw locations there are various sizes/lengths used.
