Hi there, my name is Mayra Diaz with DISH Network customer service. Have you activated the external hard drive trough us? If not, it's only a one time charge of $40.00 dollars to activate it. If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to post back.

The hard drive in my Astone AP360-T PVR (THIS IS NOT A COMPUTER) is no longer recognized. Has been working for years now it's as if it no longer exists. What can I do if anything?

Usually if a harddrive is suddenly no longer showing and has been running for years it has reached the end of its lifetime. You can check whether this has happened:
In case you have access to a computer or laptop you could take the harddrive out of the AP360-T PVR and connect it to the computer instead. (This can be done either with a SATA-2-USB adapter or directly to the onboard SATA controller.) If the computer recognizes the harddrive the problem lies with the AP360-T PVR. In case the drive does not get recognized it has died and needs to be replaced.

How to hook up to pvr

I imagine that the PVR does not recognize the formatting on the drive as it ships with the GUID partition scheme, and many of the PVRs probably need FAT32. Since the drive you have is 1TB, then you will need to use a Mac to re-format the drive as Windows can only format up to 32GB in FAT32. p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; } To format the drive for cross-platform or PVR use, make sure that you have backed up all your data from the drive as formatting will destroy any data on the drive. First, connect the drive to your Mac, and open Disk Utility. Then select your drive on the left side of the window and choose the Partition Tab. Then change the Current Partition drop-down menu to 1 partition and click on the Options button. A new window will appear where you will choose Master Boot Record (MBR), then click OK. Then choose Free Space from the Format drop-down menu, click Apply, then OK. Your drive will now appear unformatted. Then choose the Erase tab, choose FAT32 as the Format, name your drive (you will be limited to 11 characters), and click Erase, then OK. Your drive will then appear on the desktop formatted for cross-platform use, and you can copy the data you need to move to your PC or PVR and then connect the drive to your PC or PVR. I hope this helps.

My hard drive has failed in my LG LST-5403P PVR. I put in another (smaller) hard drive, but the unit still says "hdd failure" and won't format it. What can I do to get it to recognize the new...

If LG do as Poineer do, the hard drive has to be added to the system with a special service remote and a code. Maybe a drive of identical size may help?
Good luck.

My T-6330u no longer recognizes my hard drive I bought a new hard drive but the end result is the same is this something to do with the motherboard?

This can be from a number of things.
1rst, is the drive showing as disabled in your bios?
If not, with laptop powered off, then try unplugging the dc adapter and removing the battery. remove the hard drive. Let the computer sit for a few minutes.replace the battery but do not plug the dc jack back in. boot the computer without the hard drive and let it go to the point of failing boot with no hard drive.
Power off. hold down the power button and let it cycle power (goes on then off)
remove battery and replace hard drive. try to boot and see if this will allow your hard drive to recognize.
If this doesnt work then repost and can go from there

Drive Recognized but not visible on my computer

Right-click My Computer, go to Manage, Disk Management under Storage
Find your drive there and assign a drive letter.
The drive may still need to be formatted.

Tried installing hdd from cctv dvr to save it's contents.....

Hi,

Most PVR's use a small linux micro operating system to run there menus and handle the drives, as such many of the drives used by them are formatted in Ext2/3. You will need to install a driver in windows that allows it to mount ext? drives and then you should have no problem accessing it. The link below will take you to a download site for a free driver, but they do ask you to donate. Please if it works throw them a bone as this is how they keep providing such useful software for all of us.

If this works, copy the files to your computer and then let the PVR reformat the drive, unfortunately when windows doesn't recognize the drive as being formatted, it marks it. That mark is messing with the PVR but after you add these drivers you should have no problem moving the drive back and fourth as it will recognize the drive and it's data in the future.

Installing a hard drive on the eurovox ex5000 pvr stops it workin

if the hard drive is new and not formatted , there will be no operating system for the computer to go past the bios start up
what you will have to do is to get into the bios , select boot preference and select cd as first preference
load an operating system( example win 8) and let the unit boot from the disc
after that has properly installed ,shut down the unit , restart and get the bios back up and change boot preference to hard drive
from then on it should start and boot from the program on the hard drive

PVR-H140 doesn't work but cannot restore files

Problem is once the hard drive is corrupted you can't access usb to fix the problem. You have to remove the four screws on the back cover remove the 40gig hard drive. Find a laptop or an ide to usb adapter to reformat the drive. Must be fat32 not ntsf. Then copy all files back onto drive.
