Windows firewall is not supposed to work when Norton is your security program. Norton has its own firewall plus whatever options it offers in the software you get. Mine for example is the Norton 360 internet security which includes a Firewall, internet protection, file and program management to name a few. (Windows does not provide much of what Norton offers) If you want free anti virus, AVG is excellent but be aware of what it does and check the program at least once a month to make sure there are no issues. Sometimes AVG will not let you know about new viruses but you will be able to eliminate them through AVG but you have to go in the program to do it. AVG is good!

I have an aspire 5315. Acer Arcade has disappeared and I can't seem to find a way to recover or re-install

Start -> Search -> Acer Arcade -> Start search -> when application is found single left click to highlight it -> right click on highlighted area -> send to -> Desktop (create shortcut) -> double click on new Acer Arcade` desktop icon to test the program.

If the above does not fix the problem:

start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore -> restore my computer to an earlier time -> next -> select a bold date on the calendar to the left and an even in the event schedule to the right that both precede/predate whatever change in settings that caused your application's icon or file directory to change configuration -> restore -> restart computer without interrupting to complete restore process -> look for the lost program in its usual place.

If none of these resolve the problem, then the programs may have accidentally been deleted by yourself or perhaps by another user, without your knowledge.

The following Site has links to download and install your lost application or, alternatively, the deluxe version:

Itunes cannot open . error code is -50. even after reinstalling everything new.

Do you have Norton Security? It could be blocking it.
Uninstall Norton and try AVG antivirus. Norton is a horrible program, I've had bad experiences.
Or disable any antivirus or firewall you have and try running iTunes.
Or try this.
1. Go to Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs --> iTunes --> Remove
...uninstall the program completely and restart your computer
2. Go to Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs --> QuickTime --> Remove
...uninstall the program completely and restart your computer
3. Go to My Computer --> Local Disc --> Program Files. Once in Program Files you will see the iTunes and QuickTime folder and you will want to delete the iTunes folder and the QuickTime folder. Right click on the iTunes folder and select delete and confirm the deletion. Do the same for QuickTime.
4. Restart your computer
5. Disable all features of any anti-virus program such as Norton or McAfee
6. Open Internet Explorer or which ever internet program you use and go to and download the iTunes+QuickTime program. *Do not do any modifications in the download of the program.* Just download the program by doing the usual "Next" clicking.
7. Once iTunes is finished downloading, double click on the Shortcut Icon on the desktop. iTunes should open with a large square box and you have to click "Agree."
Should be good to go.

Turn on computer and message reads ****bad check sum (CMOS) ****

That means that after computer had been off for a long time the CMOS battery has drained, and CMOS (BIOS) settings had been reset to default.

Usually the computer will work fine after pressing F1, but you may get wrong date and time.

Try charging battery completely, often the problem disappears, if it does not , then the choice is between pressing F1 each time you start the laptop, or disassembling the laptop and replacing CMOS internal coin battery, located on the lower side of the motherboard.

My laptop acer aspire5920 is not shutting down due to removal of my shutdown file from my laptop due to unknown reasons.

Hi dear,
Create Icons for Shutdown and Reboot If you find it annoying to access the Start Menu for shutting down or rebooting the computer, create a shutdown and reboot icon for the desktop.
Desktop Shutdown Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -s -t 00] without the brackets.
Click [Next] and type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut
Click [Finish]
Add a bit of class to the shortcut by assigning it a custom icon. Right click the shortcut, click [Properties] and select the [Shortcut] tab. Click [Change Icon] and select from the icons that are displayed.
Desktop Reboot Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -r -t 00] without the brackets.
A Final Note: If you happen to be as fanatical as I am about having nothing on the desktop, drag the new icons into the Quick Launch area of the Taskbar.

then use it.

if not resolve it

then use following step ;-

click on start then go to RUN and type SFC /SCANNOW
press enter
this command recover all windows lost files, if it will ask windows CD then enter the windows disk.

bye take care
good luck

Seems like down or pgdn key is stuck,

Follow these instructions exactly to correct your problem.

Right click the shortcut icon for IE next to the Start button, choose Properties, change it from 'normal' to 'maximized'.
Now open it.
Now right click any link on the page, choose Open In New Window....don't maximize it....instead, use the mouse to resize it to what you want it to be.
Now close the FIRST window you opened, and then close the new one you just resized.
Reopen IE from the shortcut icon again, and all windows from now on will be the size you chose and created.

Please vote if you found this information helpful.

Thank You
