Question about Garden
I have this lawn mower, it is a push lawn mower, not a ride one. I believe it is a electric start? anyway it has this button that you hold down with the bar and then it will fire and sputter but will not run. I Prime it 3-4 times just to make sure were getting gas in their and then i have to pull the string 3-4 times to get good compression, then i hold this orange button in and pull the bar back which ignites the engine and makes it sputter but it seams like it won't get enough power to run, sometimes RANDOMLY it may start but it's very hard and tiring getting it to. When i go to pull the cord again i can see grey smoke just coming out of the exhaust and it's not even running. And if the string is pulled to many times it makes a quiet to sometimes loud backfire noise. It's got plenty of fresh gas in it, and the rare few times that it has ran it runs very good. Any ideas as to the problem here? I was thinking it might have something to do with the fly wheel??? or winding cord, or maybe the carb is just bad, it fires everytime though and i see smoke everytime to, it is not black smoke.
(I apologize for bad grammar)
You may have to inspect the woodruff key that is possibly worn out in the groove of the main shaft, To inspect this key way devise you need to remove the top off the mower probably 4 phillips screws off the plastic housing comes dont forget to pull out the oil stick, then removethe pull chord assembly in one piece 3 rivets need to be drilled out and reinstalled with new ones from Ace hardware when done, then remove the 3/4" nut...tap the shaft not to hard to loosen the flywheel and check to see that the keyway(woodruff pin) is worn out, go to a hardware store with the old one and buy a replacement reinstall everything and mower should be good to go.
