Freeagent tools is not working

I am running Vista and just installed a Freeagent Pro 500GB, Esata and USB. After installing the software I have been unable to get the tools working. Vista give me a dialog box saying Freeagent tools is not working. I am using the usb port since I know that is doesnot work under Esata. I have reinstalled a number of times without success. The back up program is working fine and the drive is recognize. Thanks. Windows XP lost a couple of drives. After doing a new build and test driving some DVD utilities, my (D:) drive and an eSATA 250 GHb have done a disappearing act. I can find them in sys info but my computer (Black Nuke) file won't show me the D: drive. I could understand if that were the only drive missing as it has Fedora on it but the home built 250 gig external HDD has never shown in the "my computer" window, I tried hooking it up with the USB cable, the eSATA cable and power source. The power LED lit fine but I've never seen the activity LED on. The USB external 3.5" that was hooked up changed drive letters but shows and works fine, flash USB card drives show and work. The 2.5" external that was used only on this machine is lost not to be found and goes to flashing the activity LED as soon as it's plugged in, I can get no other external hard drive to work although I'm about out of them. I know I've run into this and it's, "a registry problem?", something I don't recall how to fix. So please anyone who recalls/knows the solution, I checked the insertion depth of the eSATA cable; not it, I could use a hand on this. I'll owe you one! J

With your XP problem..
Goto My Computer and right click.
Select Manage
In the window that opens select Storage and then Disk Management.

Your drives will be there, but need to be mounted. Right clicking on the drive will give you your options etc.

Your Vista problem I will have ot contemplate, though it's probably a software compatability issue more then anything.

Try running the EXE file under XP compatability, or check the website for an updated version. Be sure to get the 64 bit or 32 bit version as required.

I should point out My Computer will be the main folder your drives are listed under in Explorer.

If you have My Computer on the desktop (IE using the old menu system) then just right click that for the same result.

Did that take care of it?

Failed Southbridge in MSI P6NGM mobo

Whenever changing out a MB, you run the risk of having to do a complete re-install of Windows. A few caveats: If you choose a MB with exactly the same chipset and integrated peripherals, then you may only need to update a few drivers. Sometimes a repair install will do the trick, but there's no way to know until you complete the upgrade.

I absolutely agree with your idea to clone your boot partition to another drive if possible, then use the cloned drive to test the move to the new MB and see what hurdles you encounter.

Best suggestion is exact model replacement of the MB in question. Check

USB PROBLEM- Hey its me Shademon

shademon - I'm assuming that the drive letter change didn't help? If not, here's the deal. When you installed Vista over XP you may not have had all of the correct drivers installed. There is still an option. Try going to microsoft update and running cutom updates, down the lefthand side you should see a list of "hardware" updates download and install all of those, perhaps there is a driver update for vista. If that doesn't work you probably have a few ports that are direct soldered to your mobo, but you've probably also got a few in the front that run on a 4 - 8 pin cable to your board. You can also buy a card that should go into your vacant PCI slots (make sure it's vista capable) and you should be able to install the drivers/software direct via a CD with the new hardware check out these products newegg is pretty reasonable price hope this helps let me know if I can answer anything else.

Camera usb 2.0 drivers

Unfortunally the Asus motherboard does not list drivers for windows Vista. (No support for Vista).
You are left with Vista update software from microsoft. On the P4XP-X board open you're manual to page 1-4.
Number 24 supports USB 2.0 & number 25 supports USB 1.1.
Windows update service installs USB driver software for all motherboards. You may need to go back to Windows XP.

Problems with the USB hub on P5GD2, running Vista

So you mean that you change your OS from XP to Vista? Yeah it really wont work normal because the driver that you installed is not for VISTA compatible drivers. ANd also you cannot force to install an XP driver to a Vista OS. Try to look to google that MBR of your and find some compatible driver for your VISTA.
