If u've got dv1000, try to visit this webpage and download sp34770 - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34 [...] p34770.exe . See more Install driver and it should work. If not like in my case, reinstall OP and try again to install the driver. Good luck

The driver you installed only partially fixed the problem. Win 7 is only recognizing the External connections. You need to get the updated drivers for the Internal speakers or double check the settings on the computer and make sure you have it set to use Internal speakers. You will find the speaker and Codec selection under Control panel in the Sound Subsection. Make sure these aren't muted and that you have the correct speakers selected.

    Why would this setting get modified I have been installing windows 7 for almost a year and never experience a modification in the setting I have check and know everything is configured correctly matter of fact when I plug in headphones and slowly unplug them I hear sound for a second or two from the internal speakers it sounds like you said maybe I am missing a driver update do you know of any for this driver (sp35811.exe) this is the one I am using.

    Thanks

    The easiest answer is you are dealing with Windows. Sometimes Windows 7 sets the speaker settings to the first device it finds which is an external speaker connection on the sound card. Keep in mind your computer was not designed to be Windows 7, that was an after thought by HP. Your internal speakers are detectable and usable but you need to activate them in Windows 7 for them to work. This is a common problem with HP systems that are upgraded to Windows 7 when you jump over Vista. I'm surprised HP even had a driver for Win 7 that would work with your system. Is is not a typical thing they do. I have a DV 7 model they still haven't made Win 7 drivers for and Mine came with Vista right as they were releasing Win 7. I doubt I will ever switch to Win 7 because I don't trust Windows. The only reason I have Vista and Not XP on this system is because I couldn't get XP on this model. My recommendation is go back to Win XP, with the Patches installed it is more Secure and more dependable than you will see Win 7 in the next 5 years if there pattern holds. It typically takes them 5 years to work the bugs out of a system after they release it. Or in the case of ME they never work the bugs out. Good Luck. based on what you have posted I've given you the best answer I can, your internal speakers and the Codec for them was not loaded by Win 7 and apparently the patch you added hasn't fixed the whole problem. Sorry

Hello and Welcome to Fixya!
This is one of the hot topics over the hp forums also, not only on dv1000 this issue is on many other brands as well under the Win7 OS.
There is nothing wrong with the internal speakers, and there is also no straight solution for this issue, as vendors are working on it.
Even though you can check this, an article by HP regarding the similar issues.
I hope you will have a clear picture now.

If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating will be esteemed.
Concerned, WAQAR

Hi,
There may be any of the three fault in your device.

  • Try plugging in the headphone jack a bunch of times, it sound crazy but it worked for me.
  • Problem with defective ribbon cable underneath the keyboard.
  • May be your internal speakers or amp is dead, you'll need to get it serviced.

Good luck and have a nice day

    sounds like every thing is fine with your laptop (external & Internal speakers), problem is with the HP software /driver that you are installing, it is not compatible with windows 7, HP do not provide software/driver for windows 7, If you see in this link only windows vista, xp and 2000 is included, HP do not made driver/software for windows 7.

I am afraid which drivers did you use as Sound drivers on your Windows 7 system. There's no windows drivers for this model, what we can do is only to install the drivers and program in 'compatibility' mode. And before you install the drivers you need to install this;

Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (uaa) Bus Driver For High Definition Audio (click here to download)

After downloading, install it (please install the currently installed sound drivers), Restart your computer and again.. download this..

Connexant High-Definition Audio Driver
Extract the file to a specific folder, and then, right-click on the setup file, select "Properties" click "compatibility" and then, check mark the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Wndows xp....." from the lists available. Click "Apply" and then "Ok". Run the setup file and follow the instructions, click "Next" >>>>> and then "finish"
If this isn't possible, follow the instructions below;
Go to Device Manager, right click on the yellow question mark highlighted with the name "mutimedia audio controller" or something similar, select "Update drivers" and follow the onscreen instructions as you install other hardware drivers. Direct the browsing location to the folder where you'd saved the downloaded drivers. After it's done, click "finish" and restart your computer.

If all these don't help, you need to check the Sound Settings from the connexant audio settings or from the control panel Sound Settings. I hope this will definitely fix your problem if there's no other hardware problem.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

    I am sorry for the links, I didn't realize they wouldn't work, in fact it's properly working for me. The first link should be directed to

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe

    and the other, links to

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35811.exe

    I can't understand when you say it didn't work, it should be installed before installing the Uaa bus driver. Unless it's installed, it'll never function properly. if you have problem, here's another link;

    http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/f...

    or here;

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe

    If you have further problem, let me know.

    Good luck.

HP Pavilion dv1000 PC Notebook Audio Problem

There are two different audio cards shipped with Pavilion DV1000 series Notebooks.

If your Notebooks belong to DV1600 series, your Notebook should have been shipped with Conexant High Definition Audio card.

This can be one of the reason why you are unable to install the Conexant AC Link audio drivers in your Notebooks.

You need to install Microsoft UAA Drivers first before installing the Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers in the Notebook.

Download the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA) Drivers for your Notebook from the HP link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe

Please save the file in the Notebook and double click it after the download completes to install the drivers. Restart the Computer once the installation of the Microsoft UAA Drivers is completed.

Now download the Conexant High Definition audio drivers from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32864.exe

Save the file and double click on it once it is saved to install the Drivers.

This should solve the issue with audio in your Notebooks.

Hope this helps...

Requesting hp pavilion dv1000 audio drivers

I have had this problem for a while, and I solved it by learning exactly how to search the HP driver listings correctly. The issue stems from the fact that searching for "HP Pavilion dv1000" is not as specific as you might think...

Step one:
Go Here
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&dest_page=product&docname=c00033108&product=18073
Find the *EXACT* model number of your laptop. For instance, it turns out my "HP Pavilion dv1000" is actually a "dv1657cl." Alternately, you can take down the Product Number (or p/n).

Step two:
Go Here
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
I am sure we are all familiar with this page, but you will find that it is a little more helpful now that we are armed with the knowledge that it requires. Search on this page with your model number or p/n and you should find the correct drivers (for audio as well as other devices) easily.

For example, I finally found this page for my "dv1657cl."
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=2511500

Good luck, everyone!
