Sounds like the trolley is stopped up against the stop bolt on the rail. This comes from bad limits. This happens often on older Chamberlain/Sears/Liftmaster etc openers.

Sounds like the motor has failed. Clicks is the solenoid, buzzing is the windings on the motor trying to move. You can check if the motor turns by hand, and if it does, you need a repair person.

I have a liftmaster formula 1 1280R opener that works fine from the wall mount but all of a sudden both remotes and the built-in remote in my car stopped working. It is not the batteries in the remotes. ...

The motor/control unit may have gotten reset. It needs to relearn the codes transmitted by the remotes.

MIne has a "learn" button on the control unit. Press and hold, then press the button on the remote. Lights will flash indicating it has received and stored the code. Release button.

Check to see if the remote works now. If so, all three should be working. If not, dig up your manuals.

Resetting motor of a dominator garage door

Doe the motor have a battery back-up, or mains only?
Step 1: Disconnect the linking arm from the motor traveller, and test (by pressing button on remote or wall console), that motor runs traveller to the fully open position, and stops where the "open" limit switch is. Then run motor (by pressing button on remote or wall console), to the fully closed position. If the motor fails to run through a full open/ full close cycle, the limit switches require checking.Assuming that the motor runs through the full open/full closed cycle, focus on the door. All motors have built in circuitry, preventing motors from crushing objects. A double garage door should be able to be lifted easily by one hand. The door should be able to be left at any height, and remain there, or creep ever so slowly downwards (travel time of approx 10mm per 5 seconds is ok). If your door is properly balanced, and the motor will still not lift it, the control card on the motor is damaged, and requires replacement.

(Chamberlain 1/2 hp Whisper Drive garage door opener) the garage mounted opener will open the door, but none of the remotes now work. batteries have been changed already. Is there a way to reprogram the...

If the wall button will operate the door up but none of the devices do then look at the wall button. Find the lock button and push it for 2 seconds and then try the remotes again. This is your vacation lock. You can get a manual at chamberlain.com. Now if the door does not open or close with the remotes you can reprogram them. Press the colored learn button on the motor head and then press the button on the remote. Repeat for each remote. If they fail to program you will need a new logic board. Thanks BB

On the rear of your motor unit near where all those white wires go you will find the smart/learn button. Hold the button down on your remote and press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Do this with all your remotes.

I have a 1995 Sear garage door opener that stopped working

The trolley (the part that moves back and forth and is connected to your door) of your opener is most likely jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. You can remove the bolt or loosen the chain until your unit will run. Once the door is closed find the 'up limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn it about 3 turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Now replace the bolt or tighten the chain. Whichever you first did.

All of a sudden all three remotes stopped working at the same time. Battery is okay, hard wire opener works

You probably have the lock enguaged on the opener. On the wall control, there is a button labeled "lock". Press and hold for 3 seconds and then release. the light on the wall button should be solid now. Your remotes should work. If the light is solid and the remotes still do not work, press the learn button on the back of the opener motor and then press the button on the remote. The light on the motor will blink once. Repeat on the other two remotes.

When remote or door switch is pressed the garage door opener only clicks, the motor attempts to move very slightly. starting capacitor is new.

SOUNDS LIKE A SAFETY EYE PROBLEM.

WILL IT CLOSE IF YOU HOLD DOWN THE WALL BUTTON??

HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON OVERRIDES THE SAFETY EYES.
WHEN HOLDING IT DOWN MAKES THE DOOR CLOSE PROPERLY THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAFETY EYES.

ARE BOTH LEDS ON? - CHECK FOR A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.
ARE THE EYES WIRED CORRECTLY?
ARE THEY AIMED AT EACH OTHER?
