PROBLEM WITH MICROPHONE

I cant record my voice in the computer..,...

Hello.

Well I just recently got a new mic not really new just more newer than my old one. Well I plug the microphone in and it works perfect with MSN I can send voice recordings so easy. But one day it just stopped working I don't remember if i messed any check boxes or something i have no idea but neither my old mic that worked before will work and neither will my new one work either: I know for sure they both still work because I tested them on my other computer. But my Windows XP Dimension 1300 won't take the mics anymore. Its the kind that you plug in the back of computer in the "red jack" with the microphone picture. I don't know why they won't work anymore can someone please help me. What are the regular regulations or "normal default" configuration for the microphone/audio system I'm losing my hair from this problem I have no idea what i did wrong I might do system restore but I dont know what if im just a check box away please help:(

Thank you,

- Kyle

I also tried the Sound and Audio devices in the control panel. I did the test hardware and it said my sound hardware can't play sounds. But my headphones work perfectly just my microphone.

Oh and also just found out. When I play a song from Itunes and the same time with the "Sound Recorder" I click on record and without the microphone even turned on or any volume on... The recorder records the song playing like it was really playing. When I turn volume on to hear what it recorded its like playing the song over again but was actually a recording. How do I make it record what I say into the microphone? The computer is recording things when there is no volume at all somehow I have no idea what its doing but I want the microphone to record my voice so I can chat on ventrillo.

    Thanks,

    - Kyle

Hello, I just purchased the C01U USB mic and whenever I test or record with it I get this really high pitched noise. but when I tap the Mic is goes away and then slowly fads back in after a couple of...

1. Try the microphone on another USB port and check.
2. If not OK, try the microphone on another computer and check.
3. If OK on another computer, re-install it or recover the O.S. from a backup.
4. If on another computer the same problem exists, the microphone could have a internal control defect.

ATR3350 Microphone: Battery in. Plugged into laptop. Recorded video. ATR3350 Mic is ignored. Audio is still recorded from my Logitech Webcam software. How does this thing work?

You need to tell your computer which microphone / sound source to use.
In he absence of other instructions it is defaulting to the built in microphone.
Normally your sound-card software should detect a new device plugged in and ask you to confirm it. However if it is not doing so you may need to change the audio settings.
How to correct this will vary slightly depending on which operating system you are using.

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here you need to SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls). If your webcam/ microphone is built in to the laptop there should also be a volume control called 'Internal MIC' - disable it by placing a check-mark in the mute box.

NOTE if microphone (or internal MIC) is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK.

That should be it but it is possible you may also need to turn off the microphone in the software for your web-cam.

I just bought a new gigaware earclip monoheadset with mic. the problum is i cant seem to get the mic working the sound works great but i just cant get that voice to work

Hello Mithmar hi, try setting the volume for your microphone, (i'm assuming you are using X P) to do this right click the speaker icon (or the mixer icon) on the lower right side of your screen, you will go to the volume controls section, goto options, then properties, select recording. check the microphone, then click apply/ok. On the mixer there is now the microphone slider. Test your microphone by loading the sound recorder program (start, all programs, accessories, entertainment, sound recorder, press the red button) then shout to the microphone, you should see wave patterns on the recorder, your microphone is working fine. at this point let me know your progress.

Mic Echoes

Echo is caused by a number of variables. Are you in a large room with mic extended away from you? Mic too far away will create echo. Also try turning down the gain for the mic

My microphone doesn't do it right.

Some of the Podcast mics are condenser mics and MUST be used with a preamp or DEVICE that supplies PHANTOM power to the mic.

You computer DOESN"T supply Phantom power.

Read up on Phantom power in Google to understand it.

Microphone plays my voice but doesn't record it

I agree with anuragmi but also want to add check that mic is plugged into the input of the soundcard and if all else fails try it on someone else computer and if it works there is an issue with your soundcard or settings. Good luck.

How to hear my voice through my usb microphone?

by default the playback of your voice is muted. next to your clock theres the sound speaker icon click on it, you should see microphone somewhere there, if you dont press settings from the toolbar and then properties

then on the playback make sure there is a X on microphone.

then click ok, now check is the microphone muted? unmute it and speak to the microphone you should hear your own voice played back instantly from the speakers.
