Hello! We have a Sony Bravia 42in LCD tv (KDL42V4100). Our house was struck by lightning and we had to replace the power supply board part in the television, and it now turns on and works. Now the problem we have discovered is the TV says it has no signal from anything we plug in any of the HDMI ports, like our digital cable box and playstation 3. We have tried these with 2 different HDMI cables, and neither worked. Any suggestions on how it could be fixed?

Lightning always damage electronics unit badly, replace Main Board of tv, it is only solution to get it back in working condition. Required main board of KDL-42V4100 is available in Useful Parts.com for $160 under part number A1547086A

Hello,my Sony Bravia HD TV (LED & LCD) we suspect that it was struck by lightning,but my other appliances connected on the same power cord as my tv are working fine,so i'm confused..
The power surge from lightening can come in thru the antenna or cable box. Also just the proximity of lightening can damage one item and not another. An ic chip can be destroyed from the charge in the air.Likely took out power and main brd both.

Sony bravia lcd won't power on after lightning strike
I am sure the tv is shot from the surge but you can check a few things. I would take the tv apart and test the power supply first. Look for obvious burn damage throughout the boards. If there is a blackened one (prob video board) then you can try to replace that. Don't worry about taking this apart and breaking it further. In this case it can only get better for you.

Struck by lightning and won't power up
WOW!
Warranty voider there.
Hate to see a $1,000 TV go down the toilet.
If your lucky, you can try checking the fuses inside the TV.
The lightning may have taking out only your power supply board, shopjimmy.com may have replacements for about $100. But, I can't tell you for sure that will fix the problem.
You may have to take to a repair shop to find out for sure.
