Question about Dell U0636 Mouse

Non responding wireless mouse and keyboard

I just purchased a new Dell computer with a wireless mouse. I cannot get the mouse to move the cursor nor will the keyboard. Yes, I've checked batteries, talked to Dell, rebooted. What next? All lights work when buttons are pressed, the right click button on the mouse works but not the left and the mouse simply cannot be moved by mouse or keyboard. Dell said I needed to log on and they could do a 'remote' but I explained to them I can't get to the internet because I've not made it past the initial start up phases - therefore no icons and if there were icons I can't get the cursor to move to it. Can somebody help. I'm not a computer expert but do know a little. Thanks.

Are you stuck on the log in screen then? If so try using the tab key on the keyboard that should let you go through the different options on the screen and get to your password entry. As far as I know using the keyboard arrow keys will not switch between options on the log in screen

Mcdevito75 here, Sounds like the mouse itself is faulty, if the right button when depressed returns to position and you hear the familiar click, and you don"t hear that from the left button, then the mouse itself is faulty, ask Dell to send another mouse, it should be on warranttee with your new computer.

Having replaced batteries on a Dell mouse and keyboard, switched on keyboard and mouse not working. Dell support window says both connected? Cannot move mouse to acknowledge message saying that new device...

If the keyboard is working, try the "tab" key or a combination of the "tab" and "shift, ctl or alt" key.
You should be able to move the cursor to highlight to Ok message, then hit return.

Changing the batteries does not make the mouse work. the cursor is visible on the screen but will not move. what next?

Have you tried re-pairing your mouse? Should be a button on the bottom of the mouse and a button on the wireless antenna device. Or, If your using a bluetooth mouse make sure bluetooth is turned on, on your computer.

My problem is similar

Did solve the problem, the cause was a very silly one! The 'receiver' for the mouse signal had got moved around the back of the computer tower when I was changing internet provider. The signal was obviously being partly blocked!

try to insert another usb drive on the port.it the usb works then probably the bluetooth transmitter is faulty. If the USB drive also does not work... then probably the USB port of the computer damaged.

My wireless dell mouse isnt working I changed the batteries and still the cursor isnt moving?

there is usually some sort of connect button on both the mouse and then receiver unit that is plugged into the computer, sometimes you have to hold down the connect buttons on each unit simultaneously so that they will connect, i dont know if you have done this or not, otherwise it is always possible that you have a bad mouse, if this is one of those usb wireless mice try moving the usb receiver to a different port and let windows reinitialize it

Bluetooth keyboard and mouse not working with computer

Normal 0 Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start flashing.
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the receiver.

If the MOUSE isn’t working, push the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the mouse to connect to the receiver. Then they should work okay.
Hope this helps. Bud

Dell optical wireless mouse locking

If your mouse is "locking" the two most likely causes are either due to a battery issue or a connection issue. The first is unlikely since you're saying it started just after you replaced the battery, but you might want to try again if you have other new batteries around that you can use. Also you could try Re-Pairing (if you have the bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse combo that dell offers) the keyboard and mouse after reboot. step by step Instructions for re-pairing or fixing a corrupted are should be available on the Dell support website and vary depending on the exact model you have.
