Sorry but now I'm perplexed.
I found a typical connection on the Soundblaster website and it showed up to a 4.1 system using TWO outputs, which the T6528 has and it shows them using THREE outputs, which the T6528 does not have for the 5.1 speakers.
I think maybe yours has a different onboard sound card?
I also feel that a 4.1 should do him just fine as this is basically for music and not gaming.

I did see that Logitech has a speaker set that converts the two output setup to 5.1. I'm going to steer him that way.
