Step 1
Look up your specific model number and buy a replacement belt from a Maytag dealer or a third-party supplier of replacement appliance parts.
Step 2
Unplug the dryer and remove the exhaust vent tube from the back.
Step 3
Pull out the lint screen. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws around the lint screen housing.
Step 4
Slide the blade of a flat screwdriver underneath the top panel at one of the front corners of the machine. Pry the top panel up slowly, being careful to not nick or scratch the finish. You should hear a snap when you've lifted the panel high enough; that noise is just the latch releasing.
Step 5
Repeat Step 4 on the other front corner of the machine and then lift the hinged lid up.
Step 6
Firmly grasp the top edge of the front panel of the dryer. Wiggle it to the front and back slightly as you lift upward, and the panel should come loose from the latches holding it in place.
Step 7
Slide the front panel forward while your assistant supports the inner drum. Pull the front panel completely off of the machine.
Step 8
Reach underneath the drum and pull out the broken belt.
Step 9
Slip the replacement belt around the drum while your assistant continues to support the front of the drum. Turn the belt so the grooved side fits into the visible grooves around the circumference of the drum.
Step 10
Get on the floor again and locate the motor underneath the drum. You will see two round pulleys; the larger one is the motor pulley and the smaller one is the idler pulley. Grab a section of the slackened belt, fold it in half and push the loop underneath the idler pulley. Wrap the loop around the motor pulley.
Step 11
Push the idler pulley to the side, away from the motor. The grooves on the pulley should fit just right with the belt, and moving the pulley over should create tension in the belt all the way around the drum.
Step 12
Slide the front panel back up against the machine, working with your assistant to fit the front of the drum into place. When the drum is secured to the front panel, slide the panel straight down into place. You may hear or feel it lock into place when you've pushed down far enough.
Step 13
Lower the top panel and push it down until it snaps into place. Replace the screws surrounding the lint screen housing and put the lint screen back.
Step 14
Reattach the exhaust vent tube and the electrical plug.

In general, it is usually safe to use a different brand of dryer belt as a replacement, as long as the belt meets the specifications of the original belt. However, it is always a good idea to check
To determine if a different brand of dryer belt will work as a replacement, you will need to consider the following factors:
Length: The replacement belt must be the same length as the original belt. If the belt is too long or too short, it will not fit properly and could cause problems with the dryer.
Width: The replacement belt must be the same width as the original belt. If the belt is too wide or too narrow, it may not fit properly on the drum and could cause issues with the dryer.
Material: The replacement belt should be made of a durable material that is compatible with the dryer. Some belts are made of rubber, while others are made of a synthetic material.
Compatibility: It is important to make sure that the replacement belt is compatible with your specific make and model of dryer. Some belts may only be designed to fit certain models, so it is important to check the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure compatibility.
If you are unsure if a different brand of dryer belt will work as a replacement, it is always a good idea to consult the manufacturer or a qualified appliance repair technician for guidance. They will be able to advise you on the best course of action and help ensure that your dryer is functioning safely and efficiently.
