I am sorry that the Monitor is going to sleep mode. Are you experiencing the same issue with different Tower or CPU? Turn OFF the monitor and power cycle it after a minute and check if the same issue persists. Also, reinstall the Video Driver.

I have an HP L2208w monitor which has been ok for the last two years. Suddenly, it started to display patches of different colours. Also vertical and horizontal colours appear across some pf these patches....

hi steven_katas

Im thinking that this maybe a LCD panel problem (dead pixels) already. some LCD panels last for 2-3 years depending on usage. even if you haven't dropped it or anything the LCD panel's pixels ten to give way slowly or die down since these pixels are like bulbs. here's what you can do. Try connecting a different cable from your monitor to your computer if the issue is still the same, try connecting a different computer or maybe a laptop to your monitor just to eliminate the probability that it can be a cable or a video card problem.
If you have already connected a new computer say a laptop and it is still the same it might already be a hardware problem with your monitor and might need you to bring it to the service center for repair.

Hope this helps please let me know

HP L2208W monitor. Unplugged it, working perfectly, moved it (carefully) to another desk, now it only says "no input signal", but stranger is the fact that it comes on as soon as it is plugged...

nosignal means the PC its plugged into , is not sending
the 2 sync, signals, horiz./vertical.
so make sure the PC works, first, then the cable them the monitor.
this monitor is old as 2007. 1 decade old.
is the cable plugged in to the same jacks as it was.
the PC caN in fact have many jacks, DVI or VGA. even 3:
the monitor can have 2 jacks use the primary. yours has 2.
one DVI and 1 VGA.

self power on feature...hummm, the opposite of any energy saver scheme...
is the bottom right monitor button power damaged? look carefully.
to reset the monitor, unplug monitor from wall power AC
then hold the power button for 10 seconds.
does it work now?
the odd self power on the power lamp shows? page23 your manual.
Green = Fully powered.
Amber = Sleep mode.
Flashing Amber = Sleep Timer mode.

ok page 26 in your manual shows there is an auto power on feature, I just read it for you. in your OSD menu.

"Power On Recall
Restores power to the monitor following an
unexpected removal of power. Select:
Off <**************************
The factory default is On."

NOT FRIED, at all I bet.
1: wrong cables used or plugged in wrong
2: PC died. in the move, sure can, test PC with another monitor
if fails PC is failed, if not , not.
3: wrong jacks used.
4: cable died.

HP L2208w monitor problem. First it worked good, but then suddenly this happened!! When i turn on my PC, monitor works fine, but after a while (sometimes a minute, sometimes a few seconds) it gets very...

If you can borrow a friend's or neighbor's monitor and hook it up,that would tell you if it is the monitor or the computer. If your friend's monitor does the same thing,it's the computer output or driver. If your friend's works fine, your monitor is bad.How old is your computer?Mine is only a year old but I have a 3 year hardware warranty. You may want to look into that if you aren't sure at least.Testing the monitor and computer as i suggested has a minor setback though. If there is a problem with the computer,it could also blow your friend's monitor. That most likely will not happen, but there is a slim chance.Ifit were me,I would check it as I suggested as I am that confident.I am just telling you things which POSSIBLY could happen so noone gets a surprise from my answers.I try to inform and educate by providing as much info as possible with every conceivable scenario. If you have any questions or need more help, just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and reply ASAP.Greg

Step 1: Attach LCD screen to another known-working computer (keep in mind to plug into a reliable powerstrip). Check to see if the process can be repeated. If not, then check your computer settings (Power management, etc.). If the issue can be duplicated,, my friend, are experiencing an inverter failure. OK. Moving on. Buy and inverter and replace it. Not a good option for you? Might as well get a new unit. You missed several Black Friday deals but hey, some are still on sale tomorrow.

How to fix blinking of HP L2208w monitor

well , did you read the rules on the monitor for
resolution? 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz
and that this OLD MON. has CCFF back lamps that can fail in 20,000 hours use! its not LED so they fail early.
dim , blink or just go dead. all do that and fast....
why not upgrade, to LED< be best. for sure.
no CCFL has future, now, they are too old now.
and spending $50 to fix a old CCFL mon.
when we can buy a new one for $50 , is well, good money after bad.

does the monitor run on any other PC OK? I bet not.

the only clue for sumptoms above is BLINK
I cant see that do that so can tell you any thing....
shine flash light in the face screen yet
to see if BLINK is , Backlight dead, or DATA DEAD.?

When i switch the moniter on i see faint lines running up my moniter ( very faint ) as if they are some kind of interference lines, my colleagues are using the same screen on the tables next to me but have...

Hi this shows your monitor has a interference by:
1) by screen refurbish frequency you may try to change this frequency from PC, go to screen setting go high level setting click monitor and change the frequency to 70(or other than 60) ,also you may try from your monitor.
2)stil trouble there, your monitor has a problem with power supply,
the capacity wave filter not very good condition. need to change 5V wave filter capacity (two),should be solved.
