If the VCR has no tuner, you must have another tuner connected (such as a cable or satellite box) in order to be able to record anything. This tuner will then select the channel to be recorded.

I have a RCA 52"

This happens all the time. It just might be fixable. This connector is known as the "f" connector or female coaxal connector. Most average electronics technician can fix them. This connector is attached to a component called the tuner. The tuner is what takes the signal and selects the channel the tv recieves. To replace the connector it means removeing the cuircit board that the tuner is on and then removeing the tunner, disasembling the tuner. Now until you find a good tech, there is another option... take an vcr and use the rca inputs on set. essitally tunning the set through the vcr. Now you will have to change channels through the vcr. but it will work. also there is a chance that the tuner might be damaged. just depends on the damage that occured when the connector was broke off..,let me know if you need any more help

Barb..be sure you run a TV signal through the VCR first. And then a coaxial from the VCR to the TV. This is the easiest solution for now. And set the vcr to tv/video {channel your movie is on}hit record and hit tv/video and watch your tv for another movie!

It could be the internernal cables or solder joint connections to the video input or tuner board. you can test each capacitor with an ohmmeter to see which one is bad. They should be 25-30 ohms.

Didn't know it did not have an internal turner

Any VCR with a tuner will serve the purpose. Simply connect the cable to the VCR and then hook the VCR to the Tv using the composite outputs ( yellow, white and red ). If you don't have a VCR buy a used one for ten bucks.

How do I bypass the bad tuner on my Sony KV-32FS13 through my VCR - I have DISH Sat.

Hookup the the vcr to the AV jack then plug the antenna and other devices into the vcr and tune everything through this. The AV ports on a TV are independent of the internal analog/digital tuner.

HDTV

In short; yes.
The only shortfall I saw was its inability to handle 1080 resolution directly but can display 1080 signals in a mode known as 'interlacing' which is done at half the available vertical scan rate and is written as 1080i.

I cannot record a show onto a blank vhs tape in my vcr??

Hi,

Initially, pls verify that the coaxial cable is connected to the ANT/Cable/RF IN of the VCR. Thereafter the built-in tuner of the VCR would be used to select the desired channel to be recorded. The VCR in turn maybe connected two (2) ways to the TV:
  • Audio/Video using yellow, red & white RCA cables/connectors using AV1 or Video1;
  • RF patch cord from RF OUT of VCR to ANT/Cable/RF IN of TV using either Channels 3 or 4.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Magnavox TV: Somehow the record button on the remote will not record VCR. It ejects the tape and does not record. Please help. Thank you.

Try Using a new VHS tape. If the new tape ejects when press recording, the recording switch inside your VCR could be defective.

Can't tape tv program on VCR while watching another show on digital cable.

If you set it up right per Comcast instructions:

Your VCR will record a show off of its built in tuner while you are watching another show from the cable box.

Make sure that the AB switch is set into the correct position and that you are only recording a show that that isn't digital. I believe you can only record shows up to channel 150 off the VCR tuner. Anything higher than that won't work.

If your Comcast Cable Tuner has two AV outputs in the back of it, you can skip the AB switch altogether and plug the one of the cable tuner output lines into the back of the VCR input lines. That way it can record that show you are watching on the cable tuner at that same time.

My solution was to return item to Argos, got my money back and will now go ahead and order a Sky Plus Box. Apparently these type of Recorder will not record Sky programs!!
