Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

1 Answer

My laptop keeps on freezing, or shutting down itself.

My Toshiba satellite pro, which i have only had for about 9 months, keeps on freezing. I have waited for it to unfreeze, but it doesn't work so i have to turn it off by pressing the off button. But when i turn it back on it freezes again. Also my laptop tends to turn off by its self without warning, showing a blue screen. Its been happening for the past week and i don't know what to do as I'm not a computer expert. Any ideas of what i could do to stop this?

Isolate the issue by accessing safe mode, keep on tapping F8 button while system is starting and then choose safe mode on the advance boot option that will be listed on the screen. You may need to use the UP or DOWN arrow keys to scroll on the list and then press Enter button to select. Check if the system is still freezing inside safe mode, you may see that the desktop background goes black but don't worry this is normal since safe mode disables some running software on the background.

If system stops freezing while inside safe mode it means that youre having a software issue, perform system restore by clicking
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
You should choose the date before the problem occured on the list of dates and click next to revert back the system to its previous state before the issue occured. Just follow the step by step procedure that will pop up on the screen then upon clicking the last button (Finish), Restart the computer.

If system didnt stop freezing while inside safe mode it means that you need to check the hardware components of system.

check if the system bottom part was hot to touch - if it is your having a system fan or heat sink problem that triggers the system to turn itself off automatically. This mechanism of your machine was made intentionally to make sure that the end user wont have any accidental issues.

You may need to contact the system manufacturer (if system was still under warranty) to have the system fan/heat sink replaced. If warranty was already expired you need to go to local computer service center to have this fix.

Should you have any other questions just please leave a comment.

Cheers~

Why does my laptop keep freezeing up and shutting down, I did a virus scan and its ok

The infected laptops encounter random shutdown problem until some maintenance activity is being performed on the system.
Two important things that you should do to fix a laptop which keeps shutting down are:
1- Scanning computer to eliminate malwares, spywares and the viruses from your laptop.
2- Repairing and cleaning Windows registry.
The registry errors, however, are the internal errors and can become a cause of system crashes and freezes.

My toshiba satellite series keeps freezing up when idle and I have to do a force shut done, any suggestions?

Best suggestion is to back up your files and reinstall the OS.
If it freezes while idle, some necessary data is most likely corrupted.
Force shut downs often cause system files to corrupt.

Toshiba Satellite L300 shuts down when ac power plugged in

How about this step, try to turn off the laptop itself. Remove the cables and battery just like what you did before, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then, reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn on the computer itself. If the laptop restarts, shuts down or freezes with the AC power cables, two things that you should seriously consider. It might be the power cable itself, AC cable port or the circuitry going to the motherboard. And since you have cleaned out the fan and heat sink, you have isolated that problem. Have you plug-in another power cable on your laptop? If yes, then check if it works. Otherwise, the main issue is that the AC port is loose or the circuitry of AC adapter going to the motherboard is not not working. You can re-open the unit and check the circuitry from the AC port going to the motherboard. You may check the circuitry from AC port to the power supply if it is ok. If symptom persist, please contact your local dealer...

When you power up, turn the notebook so you can see if the cooling fan is running.
