Question about AMC Multimedia R9 5.1 Channels Receiver

1 Answer

It was turned off when the whole house power went out during a thunderstorm. tried to use it afterwards, the input knob doesn't work. I can change inputs with the remote. the speakers don't work but the signal comes through on the headphones. I took it apart and checked all the internal fuses, they are fine. It was plugged into a surge protector along with multiple other components which are all working fine. when it was working, I would turn it on, it would click on and there would be a couple second delay before a second click and the sound would come on. During the delay the input knob wouldn't work but the volume would. now I just get the first click. what makes the second click? How do I get this thing clicking again?

the proposed solution led to the real solution. wiping the knob didn't make sense given the conditions under which it stopped working, and as far as replacing the pot meter, I was given no direction as to where this pot would be found. if I hadn't taken the knob off to clean the contacts I wouldn't have found the reset button so the end justifies the means. thanks for trying and hope that the reset button location will be helpful for others

Hi, When a receivers knob does not work, you need to service the knob by using a methylated spirit and wipe the knob area. When wiping keep turning the knobs continuously.
But if it does not work, thatmeans you will change the potentiometer meter inside the receiver.

in trying to clean the switch contacts, I pulled the knob off and found a red reset button behind it. that was the ticket. good thing too because there are more pots in this thing than i can shake a meter at.

I have seen a few cases when all that is necessary to repair would be to replace the power fuse. In worst cases transistors and resistors will be blown. You will have to find a TV tech to inspect the power supply. Give me a few hands and thanks for asking!

My Dell Inspiron 530 wont turn on

yes buy a power supply. I have seen hundreds of computers that have gone through storms. Remember a Dell usually uses a special power supply.
For a good deal look on ebay for your specific model, They almost always have "Buy it Now" deals.

PS2 Green LED remains on, system won't turn on

have you tried holding down the reset button to turn off your console. Months before I bought my Ps2 I noticed my friends turning off their PS2's using the switch on the back. When i bought mine , months later i was invited to a friends house and noticed when he turned off his ps2 by holding the reset button down for a few seconds. After playing on their trampoline i went home and tried this reset button thing and it worked. Although i had the fat bulky ps2 this trick also works on slimline models too. This should solve your problem. The switch on the back i later found out was for when you wanted to turn off your ps2 during a thunderstorm.

Turned off my system

Well, it did just what it's supposed to do, protect your system from bad power. You probably had a power failure during the thunderstorm and your UPS shut down your PC. When you turn it back on the battery was too low and it shut off you PC again.Check your UPS software in windows, you should have an option to run a self test. But it should be just fine.
