Question about Waring WCT805 4-Slice Toaster
Sometimes the wire just gets old and, is not as bright but, if the wires are not black the next fix is:
there is a resistor at the end of each "calwire" (heating wire) each resistor is identical.
after time they produce more or, less resistance. so that one side gets hotter than the other side radio shack sells the resistors. please, remember to remove power before you attempt to fix.

Hi, the element on one side is faulty that's why it does not heat properly any more.
Two big parts to this problem:
1) Where can you find a replacement element? I've been looking high and low but so far no luck in finding a source. Only possibility is to find another used toaster oven for parts. In my case, the element is 3/16" by ~10" and is wired as two elements in series, making it a 60v element.
2) The element connections are usually spot-welded. I assume regular (low temp electrical) solder, besides containing lead, might risk melting. I've read one mention of using silver solder, as you would in copper pipe fittings, but I'm not sure this would avoid melting. My guess is that it would, but that's just a guess. I can also imagine using wire wrapping to make the electrical connection and maybe this could even give a solid mechanical connection.
A toaster oven not only makes toast but can also heat food. Most toaster ovens allow you broil or bake food. Many of the problems that happen to a toaster oven occurs because of the heating elements, the thermostat or the power cord. Read on to learn how to fix a toaster oven.
Things You'll Need:
Pull the side panels away from the toaster oven.
Inspect the elements on your toaster oven for damage and corrosion. Clean the dirty or corroded terminals. Test each element with a volt-ohm meter set on RX1. Your meter should read 10 to 18 ohms. Be sure to test both sets of elements separately. If your elements aren't working properly, replace the faulty elements.
Check the timer on your toaster oven for continuity with a volt-ohm meter set on RX1. A good timer will show infinity when the timer is off and a zero ohms reading with the timer on. If your toast timer is faulty, your bread won't toast to its desired color. If the timer is not working properly, replace it.
Clean your toaster oven. If your broiling rack slides poorly, your oven walls are probably dirty. Some ovens link a rack with the door, so that the rack slides forward when the door is opened. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations concerning lubrication. Clean your oven by shaking out all the crumbs and wiping the crumb tray with a damp cloth. Wash the walls of your oven with a rag filled with hot soapy water.
Monitor your cooking times carefully until you understand how your oven behaves. Oven temperatures may not match the dial settings exactly.
Check the power cord and plug of your toaster oven to make sure it is not frayed or broken. Replace your plug or cord if it appears damaged.
