No task bar or icons

OK. Here is what you do. Open your browser, type this on the URL line (NO WWW or HTTP) "71.63.66.19" (without quotes). You should see a CCFile window come up on you desktop. You will see an ISO file there right click on it and "save target to" where ever you want to put it. It is over 500MB, so it will take maybe 30-60 min to transfer, but then you can burn it and use it to repair your XP install. Once you have it downloaded and burned, comment back and I'll give you additional assistance. You game?

I keep getting a message my computer has shut down so it won't get damaged and to disengage bios cacheting and any newly installed programs. why is this and how do you disengage bios

hi,
somethings drawing too many resources and your computer is out of memory and is swapping to the hard drive. If you recently put internet explorer 8 on there , or a combination of that and something like google desktop may cause issues like that. try going back to IE7 at www.oldversion.com disable some unused programs in your system tray(by the clock at the bottom). study your task manager and see whats going on (right click task bar/task manager), watch the numbers in the processes tab of task manager. shut off stuff you dont use. in the run box type msconfig and study the "services" tab also..
happy hunting

How to get the emode bar off of my screen

I would use the system utility called "msconfig" if you type that at the run or search line it will bring up a utility. I would click on the startup tab and look for something in there that says something to the effect of acer emode bar and disable it and any other programs you don't want starting up with your computer. Once you have that done close the utility and it will prompt you to restart the pc, restart and when you boot into windows, you will get a message stating your using selective startup option, there a check box in that window to make it now show every time you start windows. That should clear the emode bar from your screen.

If you don't want the program, try uninstalling it from add and remove programs in the control panel.

I hope this helps, and thanks for using FIxYa,

Eric

You need to update your drivers. On a computer that I built I had the same message. The problem was that my Nvidia graphics driver was out of date. I'm not sure what the direct correlation between the two are but as soon as I updated the driver, I stopped recieving the message and IE works fine for me now. If this does not work than try using firefox instead.
