Question about Garden

3 Answers

I have a DeWalt Model 920A Hammer Drill/Driver. The Transmission jammed so I took it off to clear the jam. While I was putting it back on the tool body, I dropped it and some of the gears came out. Without a diagram I do not know how to put it back together. I need a detailed diagram showing how to reassemble the transmission.

Your suggested solution does not work because the Owners Manual shows the transmission fully assembled and does not give an exploded view of how the parts fit together.

I know someone has to have a Service/Repair Manual for this drill that shows how the parts of the transmission go together. This is what I need!

THIS QUESTION IS NOT ABOUT A CHAIN SAW!!!!! IT IS ABOUT A DEWALT MODEL 920A HAMMER DRILL/DRIVER. PLEASE FOCUS YOUR SOLUTIONS OF THIS DRILL/DRIVER.

    Dear FixYa Representative:

I did fail to provide a complete Model Number and description of the too with which I need help. The correct info is: DeWalt Model DC920KAR 18V Cordless 1/2" XRP Drill/Driver. Even without this complete info, I find it difficult to understand how a clearly labeled DRILL/DRIVER got mistaken for a Chain Saw. Furthermore, I don't want to be a horse's *** or give you folks a hard time. But I paid about 13 bucks for "expert" information about my problem. So far I have been referred to the Owners Manual for a nonexistant diagram of the transmission for this drill and told that I should just buy a new transmission for just over 30 bucks. Where I come from, this is NOT "expert" help for the question I posed. Surely one of the "experts" working there has experience reassembling the transmissions for DeWalt Drill/Drivers or knows where to find a Service/Repair Manual that gives detailed instructions for this process. This is the help I need from an expert. Please provide this info.

    THANKS,

    Dear FixYa:

To say I'm disappointed with your service on this problem is a gross understatement. I signed up and paid the fee because you held your reps out as "experts." In my simple Texas view, an expert is someone with knowledge, experience and connections.

So far your "experts" have referred me to the Owners Manual, to a DeWalt Authorized Repair Center and to a DeWalt Parts Supplier to buy a new transmission.

Now I ask you frankly, which one of these do you think I didn't already know about? Your "experts" have offered me nothing that I didn't already know. And you want me to pay for this?

If you truely had an "expert" on DeWalt power tools, he/she would know how to reassemble the transmission of this drill OR would know where to get an exploded diagram showing how to assemble it. You know this is true.

Since you obviously do not have anyone there with this knowledge, experience or connections, you do not have the "experts" you claimed in your web ad. I paid the fee based on your claim to have "experts." Since you do not have any, I think you owe me a refund.

    Sincerely,
    John Lowry

Dewalt does not give blueprints to the transmission. It is sold as an entire replacement part only.
SEE IT HERE for $33

Thanks!!

I didn't see a model listed as just 920A the are ones like KC920A and so on. You can go to the dewalt web site for repair parts : http://www.dewaltservicenet.com/ and look up your exact model number. If you already had a transmission problem, a new transmission is only like 30 bucks. Might be worth replacing. WHY did yours jam?

If you have the user manual that came with the tool, look at the section showing replacement parts. There will be a picture of the the drill and all parts. Match the parts you have to the picture to see how it's assembled. If you don't have the manual, you can download a copy from the DeWalt web site.

You will find them in the transmission, remove the metal cover and they will be located just under it - sounds like it is either the gear posts or the clutch cams on the nose side of the transmission DeWALT DC925 Type 1 Hammer Drill Parts

Hitachi Nr90gc2 nail jam

Use a punch as close to the size of the driver as possible and tap it with a hammer until the blade retracts and clears the jammed nail. Be careful and only hit it as hard as needed to clear the jam. Sometimes it will require a few good "whacks" with a hammer. Much easier then disassembling the tool and I clear jams on customers tools like that all the time here at my shop.

they come out as an assembly and it appears that you would have to gently pry up on the bottom to start them out. I suggest going to Dewaltservicenet.com and typing in your model number for a breakdown on this tool and for part numbers and pricing, I just looked at it a minute ago and it is there.

I have a dewalt dc925 combi drill the chuck keep slipping and also the setting ring is hard to adjust . What can i do top solve this?

Probably needs a new transmission. They cost about $34 plus shipping. Easy to fix. Just remove the four torx screws from the metal (gray in color) part $of the drill. Then pull it apart. The transmission comes in a one piece cassette. Insert it, and put the front back on and tighten the screws.

if your in hurry & away from the service center all you need to do is just loosen the 4 screw that holds the clutch housing & set it # 1 & back to drill mode couple of times. do not remove clutch if your not sure co'z its got tiny needle bearing on front of the transmission.this is just a temporary fix . it may happened again.
