Question about RCA DRC8300N DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

Help! I just bought this DVD Record/VCR. I have attempted to hook it up using only cable, as my TV does not have A/V in/outs. this is how my previous DVD player was hooked up. But nothing is happening. I can tell it is playing, but I cannot get an image on screen.

Also - the TV that I have is a RCA Colortrak plus circa about 1993. I also have an RF adapter I can put to use if needed.

You'll need an interface connector to get this to work..check at Radio shack.

Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. Can get dvd/vcr to work but vcr won't record

first did you program the vcr to match your cable channels ...that needs to be done on most vcrs/dvd/ combos and second if you have a cable box on your tv you still need to run a coax cable from the cable box to the in of the dvd player and out of the dvd player to the tv.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

VCR WON'T RECORD

you may have the outputs hooked up correctly however you may need to set the inputs to the selected type of cable you are using. S video 1 cable or video input witch is an rca adapter yellow in color. you will find these setting in the "setup section" on the remote set up button will get you there and then input or source.

Converter box

The cable that goes into the TV sould come from the VCR output to TV plug.
The antenna input to the VCR should come from the antenna or DTV converter box.
The signal passes through or loops through the VCR.
If you hve a manual the connections are on pages 14 an 15.
Let me know if there are any problems and a time you might be hooking this up.

You can download a manual here:

DVD-VCR connection when there's already cable & Tivo

Use the RCA connections of your TV to hook up the DVD/VCR, connect the "VIDEO OUT" of your TV to the "VIDEO IN" of the VCR and "VIDEO OUT" from your VCR to one of the video inputs of your TV. You need the double connection in case you want to record something to a VHS, otherwise, just hook up a cable from "Video OUT" of the VCR to any of the "Video IN" inputs of your TV.

HELP! I can't figure out how to Connect my Sylvania DVD/VCR Combo to my older TV

Even if you do get it connected you cannot copy from vhs to dvd as you have bought a vcr recorder with dvd player, not a dvd recorder. You can only record to the vcr tape from a dvd, in the players controls.
