Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Upon a yes from a sales person n whether a HP D1600 would work with a DELL computer, I was told as log as I had Windows XP, yes. No, the CP will not install the software. What is wrong? I followed the instruction that came with the printer, but when I put the CD in to install the printer, nothing happens. I was instructed to hook up the printer but not the USB cable until prompted, but I am not getting any prompts.

Computer crashed and upon start up it states that it is missing a DLL image file and will not bring up anything

Your dell could have been attacked by a virus or malware, and it went on to replace some system files. your options are, to reinstall the operating system, my guess is you are using windows, so reinstall windows, whether xp, vista or 7, login in using service directory repair mode, that is, by pressing F8 after the dell splash screen has displayed upon powering the computer, and selecting that choice. once logged in, perform virus scan if you have a good antivirus. meanwhile copy your important files and documents to a removable drive. if the antivirus manages to clean out the virus. you can reboot in a normal mode.
the second option is to use a live cd if you have ever heard of one, boot your computer using the live cd, some common ones are hiren's boot cd, multi-boot recovery cd and any other that you might across. once logged in, copy your importnt files and documents into a removable drive and format your computer and perfom a clean installation, this time do not forget to purchase an antivirus and install, kaspersky is fairly good, for some free options, avast is a good option. then scan your removable drive and clean it for viruses before recovering your documents

I want to factory restore my dell dimensions 3000.

There are three methods available.

1) Use Windows XP System Restore.

If you cannot access Windows XP, the following two methods are available.

2) Use the Dell Operating System CD, and the Dell Resource CD.

If you do not have these restoration CD's,

3) Use Dell Restore by Symantec

With this method all personal files you have, and any programs, or applications you have installed, or downloaded, will be GONE.

(Personal Files: My Pictures, My Music, My Videos, and personal files you have created)

Turn the computer on. AS SOON as you see -
www.dell.com, appear in the blue bar, Press -
the CTRL key, AND the F11 key -
AT THE SAME TIME. (Not shouting)

If you do not press both keys at the same time, and in time, let the computer load. It may stop at a blank screen, with a blinking cursor.

It's okay. Now press the CTRL key, ALT key, and DELete key at the same time.
This will restart your computer. Try again when you see the www.dell.com logo.

If upon pressing the CTRL key, and F11 key, you go to the next screen, left-click on - Restore

On the next screen click on - Confirm

Takes about 6 to 10 minutes.
After the restoration has stopped, click on Finish.
Your computer will now reboot.

Should you need help with Windows XP System Restore, or using your Dell restoration disks, please state so in a comment.

Hi,

I have run into this problem several times, and regrettably I haven't figured out how to fix it without reinstalling Windows. If it came pre-installed did Dell give you any recovery discs? They're the only manufacturer I know that still packages even their new machines with discs, rather then making you make your own.

If you don't have the discs then I can think of two other options. First would be to call Dell and order some new discs (you want their "Parts Sales" department...they played telephone pong with me for hours, I never did get my discs).

Second, try a local computer repair shop. Most times (if they're good at their job) they'll have spare OEM discs that can be used to reinstall Windows using the key that would be on a sticker on the side of your case.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Best of luck :)

Canon MF 4350d Wont install

Almost the exact same problem. New 4350d Canon printer trying to connect it with Dell 8300 with XP. The computer says it does not recognize. Tried everything - reinstall drivers, download drivers, tried every USB port, swapped cables, spoke with Canon support and finally took the printer back and got a new one (Canon support person decided the USB board must be bad). New machine - same old problem.
