How do I enter the recovery (Acer Partition) of Emachine et1810-01

Hi
The factory installed drivers and applications can be re-installed by using Acer eRecovery by following these steps:

1.Click Start, and then All Programs
2.Click Acer, and then Acer eRecovery Management
3.You may be prompted to enter or create a password. This password will be required to use eRecovery in the future.
4.In the next window on the left toolbar, select Restore.
5.Choose Reinstall Drivers or Applications
6.Choose Contents
7.Choose the driver or application you wish to install
8.On the right, click the Install link and follow the prompts.
9.The computer may restart when installation is complete. If it does not restart, manually shutdown and restart the computer.
Note: For older Acer products, the Acer eRecovery Management program may not be available.
If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, they may be purchased from our Acer Recovery Media Order Form.

I forgot my password.

Self Password Reset

Resetting forgotten login passwords of domain users is a crucial bottleneck, which a help desk technician has to handle as a routine. A password reset ticket or a forgotten login password has to be addressed within minutes in-order to avoid employee downtime and productivity loss. It is estimated that atleast 40 percent help desk tickets are related to password resets and on an average each change password ticket consumes 20 minutes of a help desk technician's time.

A self service password reset solution that allows an end user to self reset his domain password in windows active directory remotely from a web browser without calling the helpdesk is an essential requirement. A self service password reset and management solution not only reduces the number of help desk password tickets but also enhances the productivity of an end user by averting unnecessary and prolonged waits.

did you try installing newest drivers from intel/gigabyte website? what you described looks to me as a overheating problem. try running the game with case open. are you running on the integrated GMA graphics or PCI-E graphics card(like geforce, radeon)?

Sound drivers or sound card not working

in control panel go to sound and audio devices. in this you can test all the audio hardware and mic also.
under voice tab there is also an option for test hardware.

you said that you cannot use the mic in skype or google talk. i think that you didn't configure the mic properties in those software.
just go to start->all programs->accessories->entertainment->sound recording. just record ur voice using mic. if it works then the problem is with the configuration of the software skype and gtalk
hope this helps.

How do I check that I have service pack 2 installed on my Windows XP home edition. I have service pack 3 and many updates which have been done automatically. I need help with getting my computer to talk to...

HI,
Did you reinstall the drivers for your wireless adapter? please check the device manager and confirm that wireless adapter is getting listed under "Network Adapters". and if the driver package includes a software which helps to configure the wireless adaptor , you can find it under Start-> All Programs menu. if there is no software provided with the driver package, follow the instructioss:
1. click Start and Run.
2.  in the Run command box. Type "services.msc" hit enter.
3. in the list check for a service named, Wireless Zero Configuration. check the status, if it is disabled, right click on it, go to properties and  select the startup type as "Automatic". click apply and click start.
4. now go to control panel and go to network connections, . if the drivers are properly installed for your wireless adapter , you can see a computer icon with a red x marx which has the name of your wireless adapter. right click on it and select the option view available networks, it will scan for signals and will give you a list of wireless netwok available in the range, select your network and connect, it will ask you for a key if its a secured network, enter the key and it will connect without any problems,
Hope this will help you.
Thanks,
Vipin

Problem detecting wireless network laptop on windows xp no problem on other laptop windows vista

Ok if your wireless card appears to be installed and working but all you get is an empty list of networks every time you search for available networks then chances are the windows wireless service is not running.. to fix this try the following:

"Right click" on "my computer" icon and select "manage" from the drop down menu

Then when the management console appears click "services and applications" on the left pane

Then in the right pane "double click" the word "services" to show the list of services running on your computer.

Then scroll down to the bottom of the list and usually about the third from the bottom you will see a service called "wireless zero Config"

You need to make sure it says "started" in the "status" column if it does not then "right click" on it and select "start" from the drop down menu

If the service says started and you are still getting an empty list then let me know and i will help you with the next step in solving it but usually 9 times out of 10 that is the issue

I hope this info helps

Wireless internet

you need to get a PCI Wireless card or a USB Wireless adapter, if you are talking about an 802.11 wireless router.

If you are talking about Sprint wireless Broadband or the link (WWAN service) you'll need a USB WWAN adapter which are available by all major Wireless vendors (Verizon, Sprint, ATT etc(

My computer has no sound.

Hello janconn 9,

1. Check the volume settings in the Volume Control. You can access this by right clicking the Volume icon at the lower right side of your screen. Also make sure you have chosen the correct mixer device under OPTION > PROPERTIES in the Volume Control. Make sure nothing is muted and that you have the necessary panels available - Master Volume, Wave, SW Synth, etc.

2. Install the latest sound card drivers from the manufacturer's website.

3. Finally, check the Device Manager to see that audio is active without any exclamation marks. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Device Manager > Hardware.

Hope that helps...Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. Before you assign a rating, please make sure that the issue is resolved or you are satisfied.
