Question about Emerson EWF2004 20" TV

1 Answer

Thank you for the suggestion

The TV itself does not turn on at all and my eletronics teacher believes it to be the 5 volt regulator and i just didn't know where it was at because we don't have a schematic for it. So yea right now the tv does not even turn on and my teacher can't be completely sure what the problem is until we can fix the 5 volt problem so thank you for your suggestion and i will try it here in the next couple of days when i get back to school to where the tv is at.

Good morning ,the tv turns on and off ,by its self. only way to turn tv off is to unplug it. please help thank you

good morning to you also. i would suspect a line voltage regulator if my horizontal output transistor runs warm and has irregular on and off cycles. replace this regulator when the set comes on irregularly, the relay clicks, and the set goes into chassis shutdown. most of the time this regulator will have about 5 legs and will start with str30... this regulator should not cost much to purchase at an electronics store. be very careful if you are going to do it yourself thank you and please rate me.

I turn the tv on and after a few seconds it shuts itself back off again. At that point I can't turn it back on until I unplug it and plug it back in. However, when I turn it back on it will again turn...

Possibly the main Power Regulator is damaged!!!

Open the case, then look for anything that burned out, replace it!!!

If still won't start, you need a multimeter, soldering iron, try locate output diode on power regulator board, then measure the voltages, it has 3-4 type of voltages;
first diode it should around 115V-130 V DC.
Second diode it should around 24 V DC.
Third diode it should around 11-16 V DC.
Fourth ( if exist), check diode and should around 5 V DC.

The problems usually start on second diode, if persist, follow the circuit board.

Problems with on/off button

Your Problem is the Hot transistor, it is short circuit. Causing the tv to go into protection. I f you say this is the second time the same problem tell the technician who works on the tv to replace all the caps on the collector of the Transistor and check the lopt transformer causing the HOT transisistor to fail thank you

TXN2771HF (5yr old) - Front Panel a/o Remote Issue

Sounds like the 5 volt supply is low, Look for the 5 volt regulator, Measure you can go directly to the sensor 3 pins 1 will be 0 volts one will have 5 volts the other is usually a fluctuating 3-5 volts if 1 pin has to have 5 volts if it is low check capacitors around the 5 volt regulator probably 47uf to 100uf look for rusty look on the leads. If you see it change it! check these voltages with set turned off ( standby ) do not attempt if you dont know what your doing. Good luck. The reason it works when it is on is because there is a run 5 volt supplement.

TV Needs new 5 volt regulator

Check for DC output at D653, if you have voltage there find Q682 and measure the voltage at the emitter. You should get 5 volts.
Just a question, if you are missing the 5 volts; do you have any other functions on the TV not working?

No power ... no nothing

power supplies give a lot of trouble (besides the tube). there are two regulators that go bad very often. they may also take out the horizontal output. there are some capcitors, resistors, 2 thyristors (i believe 2) and diodes that are suggested to be replaced along with the two regulators. all of those parts are fairly cheap so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to repair (granted that is the problem and the only problem).

TV shut off

The set is going into shutdown, there are a few reasons why the circuit is being activated, excessive high voltage, excessive volts supply(poor regulation)no screen voltage or a secondary supply is missing,if you are familiar with tv service you have a few places to check, you will need a volt meter and a soldering iron and the squematic diagram to locate the different circuits mentioned,if you are not too familiar seek the assistance of a servicer.Let Us know if you need more information.
