Alright, thanks for the clarification. I strongly suggest that you reinstall the operating system first before we go to the technical part. Tell me how it goes once you are done on the operating system reinstallation. Have a good one!

Linux (commonly pronounced /ˈlɪnəks/ LIN-əks in American English,[4][5] also pronounced /ˈlɪnʊks/ LIN-ooks[6] in Europe and Canada) refers to the family of Unix-like computer operating systems that use the Linux kernel. Linux can be installed on a wide variety of computer hardware, ranging from mobile phones, tablet computers and video game consoles, to mainframes and supercomputers.[7][8][9][10] Linux is predominantly known for its use in servers; as of 2009[update] it has a server market share ranging between 20–40%. Most desktop computers run either Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X, with Linux having anywhere from a low of an estimated 1–2% of the desktop market to a high of an estimated 4.8%[11]. However, desktop use of Linux has become increasingly popular in recent years, partly owing to the popular Ubuntu, Fedora, Mint, and openSUSE distributions[12] and the emergence of netbooks and smart phones running an embedded Linux.[13][14]
The development of Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free and open source software collaboration; typically all the underlying source code can be used, freely modified, and redistributed, both commercially and non-commercially, by anyone under licenses such as the GNU General Public License. Typically Linux is packaged in a format known as a Linux distribution for desktop and server use. Linux distributions include the Linux kernel and all of the supporting software required to run a complete system, such as utilities and libraries, the X Window System, the GNOME and KDE desktop environments, and the Apache HTTP Server. Commonly used applications with desktop Linux systems include the Mozilla Firefox web-browser, the office application suite and the GIMP image editor.

I have also had the same problem. Mine would start up fine, but once it
got to the load screen for Vista, it would give me the blue screen of
death and restart. To fix your problem, try starting it up and push Del
immediately after the Acer logo goes away. That'll take you to a screen
that tells you what you can do. Push F8 to take you to the next screen.
Once you're at that screen, go to the selection that says "Run Last
Known Good Configuration - Advanced", or something like that at least.
Choose that one. That should get it to work, but not all the time.
Sometimes you might have to follow the same steps, but instead of
booting from last known good configuration, choose to disable restart on
system failure. Then let it run through and crash, and then run the
last known good configuration again. That almost always gets it to work.
Once you get it to load, I recommend keeping it on all the time. Just
plug it in, but take out the battery, otherwise you'll kill the battery,
too. Then order an external hard drive, back up your important files
(music, pictures, files, etc.) and reload the operating system. Just use
the utility on your desktop to restore computer to factory default.
That'll reload the operating system, but also clear everything on the
    C:\ drive.

    Take care.

My Acer Aspire One ZG5 will not boot up. I know how to fix but I will lose photos on my hard drive. How can I recover these photos before I recover the operation system?

If you get the windows CD that corresponds with the version you have on your PC you can boot it and first try a recovery console and at the C:\WINDOWS> prompt type chkdsk /r let that finish through then try to boot your system again. If this doesn't fix your problem you can boot that OS CD again and try a OS Repair Install, this will not overwrite any of your saved data, like photos and documents etc.

Another thing you can do is borrow or download a linux live CD boot it and it will let you mount the hard disk and copy any user files to a DVD or other backup medium. Then once backed up you can do a system restore from the Acer disks.

Hello i have an Acer Aspire One model zg5 netbook

You're going to need to boot it from the Windows XP installation disk, which means if you don't have a CD drive you'll need to get an external CD-ROM drive. This will fix the problem.

It can easily be installed with window xp and multiple accounts can be configured in it . If you want newer operating systems are also avaliable like windows vista and window can always try

Acer aspire one(linux). model no zg5.cer

Go back into your BIOS, set the settings to default, save changes and exit. Put the Windows in the cd and restart the notebook. You should get a screen that have :to boot from cd, press any key...." From there, follow instructions. This should do the trick. Good Luck.
