Tried to install upgraded recovery. Got Signature verification failure . Have Tried everything to repair or restore. No luck with anything. Can you help?

Looks like you will need to start from scratch as Signature Verification Failure means the OS is not the same as the original and your recovery disc is older than the system OS. Download an ISO of your OS and use that to reinstall Windows,

New laptop now Vista Home Premium. Worked ok on XP now says not genuine. Click "Remind me later" and all works ok.

Now I am assuming that the laptop came with Windows XP installed and you upgraded to Vista. The reason why it is telling you that is because microsoft has installed the windows verification tool and has found your version of Vista to be possibly pirated. The upgrade disc that you used for Vista...Did you buy it or did someone give it to you? Does the disc look authentic or is it a copy? The serial number that you used to install the upgrade might be stolen. I would contact the person you obtained the disc from or contact microsoft. They will provide you with a good serial number but you may need to pay for it. Now that it has been flagged as not being genuine you will not be able to get any new updates or service packs from microsoft. And after a certain amount of time it may shut the OS down.

DX-UBDB9 Driver

I have the answer on how to get this to work.
First follow the instruction on this web site (http://www.security-hacks.com/2007/05/07/vista-disable-driver-signing-verification-in-64-bit) on how to turn off driver signing verification.

Second download the vista driver from http://www.cooldrives.com/wividrforprc.html and install it.

It worked under Vista and Windows 7.

I made a system recovery of Vista, then ran it and it worked, I installed Unix Ubuntu and decided I didn't like it. I went to re-install vista using my system recovery and it failed, do you know how I can...

Hi!

I understand that you had Vista installed on your computer, then installed Ubuntu, decided you didn't like it, and now want to reinstall Vista, but your system recovery disc does not work, correct?

From you description, I presume you did a full install of Ubuntu, which will require a full reinstallation of Vista to restore it. If you still have your original Vista install disc, load it into your CD-ROM drive and follow the prompts to reinstall Windows. If you can't find your install disc, or if you were never provided one, contact Microsoft's customer support and ask them how to get a new one. You can also ask them about getting new system recovery discs, which could also help revive your system.
