Open a command prompt and type "net users" and press <enter>.
This will list all the Windows user accounts defined on your system. Then for each account name listed, type "net user accountname" and press <enter>. (Substitute each username for "accountname".) The "net user" command will list a screenful of information for the userid you've entered. Look for Local Group Memberships. It should contain "*Administrators". Also look for the Comment line. It should say "Built-in account for administering the computer/domain". This is the default Admin account. Now you can reset the password using the Offline NT Password and Registry Editor:

Recover all your files using a Linux Live-CD like - boot from it and copy the files to an external memory/harddisk.
Then just reinstall, nothing else can be done if the admin account has been corrupted/deleted.

You can remove or change the Windows User oradministrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access todownload the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot upthe laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CDwhich contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removalprogram. Click on one of these links todownload HIREN'S BOOTCD :-

It is unlikely that you deleted or removed or otherwise affected another account when creating a new account.
Verify the account name:
  1. Log in.
  2. click "Start">"Control Panel"
  3. double click "User Accounts"
  4. All accounts present on the machine, except the administrator account, will be shown in the lower section.
  5. If the account is listed, log off and log in with that account's credentials.
  6. If the account is not listed, it is possible that the account in question is the administrator account. Log off and log back in as "administrator".
If neither of these approaches bring you to a solution, verify that the account and it's files exist on the drive by:
  1. Click "Start">"Run"
  2. enter explorer "c:\documents and settings" and press return.
  3. All accounts, including the adminstrator account, will be listed.
This should give you access to the missing files and perhaps provide a clue as to the account name.

Delete former user from laptop

Hi lily - If your running Vista here's how :

1. Log onto the computer using an account with administrator privileges.

2. Click the Start Button.

3. Click the picture associated with your account at the top of the menu.

4. Select Manage another account.

5. When the UAC box pops up, click Continue.

6. Select the user account that is to be deleted.

7. Click Delete the Account.

8. You will be asked if you wish to keep the files from the deleted account. To save the account's desktop and personal files to your desktop, click Keep Files. This will place the files into a directory with the account's name onto your desktop. Otherwise click the Delete Files button.

9. Click Delete Account.

If your Running Xp here's how:

Log on as you( by now I think everyone knows they should give themselves adminstrator priviledges)

Start>comtrol panel>user accounts>pick an account to change>delete account.

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If you need more help just add a comment and I'll be happy to assist you further. Thanks.
