Hi, Do one thing press the SCREEN MODE button on the remote repeatedly and check is there is any difference in the screen. If there is no difference then yu tv Have problem wit the T Con board, T con board is on which drives pixels the lcd screen. You can find the T con board of your tv in the following link. Normally you can find the T con board inside the tv at the bottom center covered by metal cover or aluminum foil. It could be a loose connection on one of the input lines. try a dvd player plugged right into the tv. If the problem still is there then it is not the signal its the TV itself. if the dvd player looks ok then the bad signal could be from the converter box or something else on the line infront of the input signal

Check the aspect ratio of your widescreen DVD. I'll assume that your flat panel TV is widescreen, which would mean it has a ratio of 16:9. Some movies are even wider than that (i.e. 2.35:1), so it would be normal for you to see black bars at the top and bottom. Look for a WS DVD described as 16:9 (usually shown on bottom on back). This should fill your TV screen and not distort the image. If you still see the black bars, you will need to check your DVD menu settings for widescreen aspect, and supply more info on the DVD player and TV.
