Hello,

the problem is obviously from your laptop's screen bulb or you can all it back light. Its burnt and needs to be replaced.

Once this is replaced, the screen will light up and work normal again.

Good luck.

"Is it hard to replace the backlit inverter in an hp dv9608?"

    Hello,

I'm sorry for not replying on time. Its not a difficult task to replace the back light of hp dv9608.

All you need to do is to carefully dismantle the laptop, unscrew all the screen on the screen area. You might not see the screw not until you remove the a the rubber blocking the screws.

    Take care.

You can get display on external monitor so your laptop is working fine.
Not you need to check graphic resolution.
For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then you can see safe mode and other menu enter in enable vga mode then go to start ->control panel->display ->settings then change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply .
But if you are unable to see safe mode and other menu then your lcd display need repairing.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

The backlight for my pavilion dv2000 is not lighting up. the laptop boot ugh i can see faintly, am able to move the mouse and open any program the screen remains so faint ie partially black

Well looks like your cfl tube is dead or the card powering it is dead. the easiest thing to do is to
find a Laptop repair center, the can change either the backlight tube (like a neon tube really) or the inverter or the whole screen.

You might want to try it yourself if you find a working screen for your HP.
Is is fastidious but not that dificult.

Here you can see a step by step tutorial on how to remove the screen for another Hp model.

I have the hp pavilion dv7 it powers on but the screen stays black

Try to connect to an external monitor and see if this give an image. If it does, then the Inverter / backlight or possibly the VDU cable on your laptop is damaged.
If it does not, the issue is most likely a failed graphics chip (common on these models). You CAN get the chip "reballed" but this will cost about £70.00, and not guaranteed to last

What can I do to fix my hp pavilion tx2000 because it shows a black screen when I turn it on but everything else works fine and it even worked perfect when I connected it to another monitor by vga

You might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

My screen is dark, appears like no back light, but everything else still works fine. can faintly see screen

Hello
If you can faintly see the screen I would guess the back lights are like you said....not working.
Can you hook up a external monitor or TV so you can still use it and get your files in order. or until you choose to get it fixed. I would get a couple of estimates first
I also found this video if you want to replace the back light inverter yourself.

Black screen

take a flashlight and look at the LCD screen and see if there is a faint picture to it. if there is, its a bad backlight.

if no picture you can hook an external monitor to it and switch the mon out to the external. usually this requires a FN key + monitor select function key pressed at the same time.

HP Pavilion Entertainment Laptop Monitor flickers black

If the laptop is under a year old it could still be under warranty and if so I would get it repaired under warranty.
OTHERWISE
You could have a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

HP Pavilion laptop screen has gone black/blank

You can either use an external monitor for working with the laptop or talk to HP for replacement.

The best option is to use external monitor to backup data before sending it to replacement.

Good luck

HP dv9000

Hello jarkk, I believe your problem is with your backlight inverter. the hard drive should be installed for this process of checking it on an external monitor. with the hard drive removed it will not boot to the operating system. with the drive in, use the external monitor. if the monitor works when plugged into the external monitor plug, this will eliminate a bad video card. if the screen is still black on the laptop screen, replace your backlight inverter. the last case cenario is to make sure your backlights are not burnt out.

- lcd backlight inside the lcd, or the inverter itself. Can you see a very faint image? - Very hard to tel if it's backlight or inverter, or both. Each part costs about $30. Backlight: www.lcdpart.com inverter: ebay Labour is not included, but will cost roughly $75. Still much cheaper to repair than to buy new parts from nanufacturer.
