I took off the rubber gasket to stop the flow from being triggered. Don't know how to reattach the gasket.

Well thanks for trying. I ended up fixing myself by taking off the control panel/faceplate.

You have to be careful not to snap off the plastic tabs (I broke a couple but it did not affect the remounting of the panel.

You also have to be careful removing the ice dispenser funnel, it has four plastic tabs that mount that too.

I have the exact same fridge and have the same problem. I found that if you push hard to the left of the dispenser activator, the flow of water or ice will stop. Seems like there should be a free upgrade/repair to this since looks like a common problem.

The funnel that directs ice from the dispenser to your container broke off mine. When I called LG for a new part, they said it has been redesigned and they sold me the new aparatus. (Again, must be a common problem if the engineers redesigned the system but they wouldn't offer a free replacement part)

Where are the tabs that break? Bottom, top? I started to pry the trim ring off but was marking it up. Where are the tabs and how do I pry them open?

How do you get the control panel off? Where are the tabs? How do you pry on the tabs since I probably can't see them?

So two things I have learned. First if the tabs on the funnel break dont buy a new one just crazy glue back in place. Also if you take the gasket out put vaseline on the nubbins and they will slide back in place without having to take the panel apart. Fix time 7 minutes. Booyah!!!

brilliant! it took me a whole 2 mins to drive all the nubbins in using the dull end of a wooden skewer (for fine control and pushing them in). beats removing the control panel!

My funnel also broke from my ice dispensor and they sold me the updated part and funnel frame. How did you replace the frame?

You will need to remove the control panel to reinstall the rubber gasket.  Best to call a qualified LG technician for that job.

My whirlpool stopped making ice cubes , water dispenser is o.k. and water to ice cube pan (rubber tube) won't stop running (leaking)

You are going to have to check the water solenoid to see if it is operating correctly. The solenoid operates from the AC power through a micro switch on the rotating cam. When the switch operates the solenoid is jerked out and allows water to flow. When the switch opens (timed to fill up the ice tray) spring pressure snaps the solenoid shut blocking the water flow. If the solenoid valve sticks in the open or partially open position, it allows water to leak by.

I've just replaced the water filter and the flow rate on the water dispenser is as slow as it was before. I ran the dispenser to remove the air from the system so I know that is not the problem. The flow...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. Most water flow problems that are common to both the ice maker and water dispenser are either a supply volume or filter problem. Since you already have replaced the filter that points directly to a supply volume problem. Water connections for refrigerators are often connected by using a saddle valve on the side of a water pipe. The saddle valves have a rubber gasket that is clamped to the side of the pipe to prevent leakage. The gasket over time can swell due to being clamped or plumbing debris can block the small hole that ports water to the refrigerator water supply.

Here is what I recommend. Disconnect the water line where it connects to the back of your unit. If you have the press in type connection (no visible fittings) at the water inlet valve I recommend you get a brass compression coupling and cut the plastic line vs pulling the plastic line out of the water valve. Install the coupling on the plastic line so you will have a connection to check the flow rate.
The incoming flow rate should be the same as the water dispenser flow rate. If the incoming flow rate is faster then the problem is with the refrigerator internal plastic tubing. Most of the time when this discrepancy appears it will be in the door hinge area that the tubing is flattened causing a restriction in water flow. Since you are having both ice maker and water dispenser problems... your problem most likely is strictly water supply line related. Correct the water supply problem.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Kelly

Water/ice dispenser sticking on

We had a problem with the water/ice dispenser on our 5-year-old LG SxS Refrigerator (LRSC 26930TT). In a panic to stop the water flow, the rubber activator boot was pulled off. The dispenser stopped once the button attached to the back of the boot was removed. Nothing was physically broken (i.e., parts intact) but the challenge was to get things (especially the boot) back in place. The key for me was to use patience: researched Internet for pointers (not too helpful), looked for schematics (even less fruitful) and exhaustively examined the panel on refrigerator (to help reverse engineer). Okay, here’s how I disassembled and reassembled without breaking any tabs or other pieces. Assuming your unit is similar, the panel is on the freezer door on the left side. You can lock the dispenser (using panel button) to preclude undesired water/ice while working. Note: the outer bezel (edge of panel) is secured by screws and should not be messed with. The main panel has tabs on all four sides. I used three screwdrivers (small to average in size) to pry the panel off. Pry the main panel working through the seam between the bezel and panel. Work your way around starting from the lower left or upper left corner. Each side of the panel has 3 or 4 tabs. Methodically work your way around using moderate force to pop the tabs loose. Once the panel is loose, you’ll need to disconnect the electrical connector at the upper left. The plug comes off and reattaches easily…don’t pull on the wires, use the plastic connector itself. Wiggle the panel free. Now you can get to the back of the boot retention bezel…the ultimate goal. Carefully push the bezel’s securing tabs (x3) through the panel and reattach the rubber boot. I used needle nose pliers to carefully pull each rubber nib through their applicable hole on the bezel. Now leave the boot/bezel assembly to the side—it’s the last step to reassembly. Note how the main panel tabs fit into their receiving slots/flanges. Reattach the electrical connector, snaps right on, and maneuver center of panel into recessed area, around ice chute/water nozzle. Slide the right and bottom sides on first—flanges, not slots for tabs—then align remainder of panel. Using moderate force, pop (punch) the remaining tabs back into their respective slots. The main panel will seat over the bezel. Now align and snap boot/bezel back into place. Finis! (No guarantees, but this procedure worked like a charm for me.)

Fridge Condensation

Check the seal of the rubber gasket, if there are improper seal of the magnet, pour hot water along it to soften the rubber. (be careful when handling hot water). When the rubber is soften, try to stretch it a little by pulling it. close the door and the magnet will keep the seal in place.

Kitchenaid model ksrs25ilss02 water filter

Are you saying water is dripping out the ice dispenser or the water dispenser, a water filter would have nothing to do with this, it only filters water, it does not pump water nor does it shut it off. If water
is dripping from the ice dispenser, it is because the rubber gasket
is bad on the flap that seals after ice is dispensed. If water is dripping
from the water dispenser, it is the shut off for the water, you can put a glass under it and push for water a few times,on and off and see if this makes it stop, if not you would need to have this replaced. Any questions please post back.

Water dispenser wont shut off

Something from the filter went into the dispensor valve and is holding it open. You can try to backflush it with a can of air by disconnecting the filter pushing open the valve while holding the can straw tightly while discharging it. You could also backflush it with water.

Check to see that you do have water to the water valve on the fridge. You can disconnect right where the water line goes into the valve on the fridge. Next, if you can, check power at the valve while activating the water dispenser. If you have power at the valve when activating then the water valve is bad. Let me know what you find.

LG Refrigerator water and ice dispenser stuck

We just had this problem and we fixed it by peeling off the soft rubber covering (the part you press the glass against)and then putting it back on. There is a plastic tab beneath that could get stuck if the rubber part gets an air pocket or bent out of shape. This took 2 minutes and worked like a charm.
