Question about Panasonic DMR-EH57 HDD Recorder Player
Panasonic DMR-XW380 often picture distorts and stops and starts during playback making viewing impossible. Viewing on onnolog set via
set top box. viewing same channels live all ok
I suppose you have tried to view the panasonic with it connected directly to the tv and you got the same result.
When you record the image is converted to avi then stored on the internal hard disk. When you play that recording the data is read from the hard disk then converted back to analog. If you have errors during playback those can appear in only 2 places: either the hard disk is dying and must be replaced or the processor responsible of the coding and decoding is malfunctioning. If you're lucky the processor might be just overheating so a simple cleaning will be enough (add a small fan to prevent this from happening again). If you're unlucky the processor has suffered a severe damage and must be replaced. Since it's glued to the mainboard it must be replaced as a whole, making this a very expensive failure. Time to save for a new one, it will be cheaper than to fix this one.
