I have got a Pixma MP 510 for about 2 years now, stopped printing yesterday when paper had run out, can't print of scan and copy since then. The two lamps on the right ( green/orange) light up alternately

Try Following to solve
Configure driver to correct printer port:
On the 'Ports' tab of 'Printer Properties' window, select the correct port for the printer driver. 1. From the Windows desktop, open the Printer's Property window.

  1. Click the Ports tab.
  2. Below 'Print to the following port(s)' section, select the port to which your printer is connected.
    Example: In this example, the printer is connected to 'Virtual printer port for USB001'.
  3. Click 'Apply' to accept the changes.
  4. Click General tab and then click 'Print Test Page' to confirm the changes corrected the issue.

>Disconnect and Reconnect USB cable to Ensure Secure Connection
>Restart PC
>Uninstall Driver and Reinstall[Restart Needed]
>Start windows Print spooler Service [Xp 2000 Vista]:-[How to do Click here]

    Thanks - I already tried the first part , that WAS ok already. Haven't tried to reinstall the driver yet - didn't have the time so far.

    But forgot to mention the error code and wanted to know what that means: service error B 200.

    B200 Print Error

    Turn off the machine, and unplug the
    power cord of the machine from the power supply.

    This seems to be Print Head temperature problem.Move the print head to the center and pull out the ink and the print
    head. Clean the print head and examine the bottom for burned areas.
    Still have Trouble you may need New Print head

    Clear the paper jam or foreign object
    that is preventing the Print Head Holder from moving.

    Note: Be careful not to touch the
    components inside the machine. The machine may not print out properly if you
    touch it

    Still have trouble it is better to Contact Canon for B200 error (MP510)..

    Sorry, I do not quite get this.

    How can I move the printhead when te printer is turned off? I don't know how to do that - can you explainplease?

    And for printhead cleaning I need to put the printer ON, don't I? What I read there in the manual about the cleaning won't be possible, I'm afraid because the display doesn't show ANYTHING at all.

    For the case that a new printhead is necessary - isn't a new printer cheaper than that??

    purchase a print head* for this printer through an Authorized Service Facility or
    by calling 1-800-828-4040 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. midnight, EST,
    Monday through Sunday. When calling, speak the phrase "order parts"
    when the speech routing system asks the reason for your call. You will
    immediately be routed to the Parts Desk for assistance. Be sure to have your
    model number (MP510) or part number (QY6-0070-000) ready for the sales person.

    aware that the part is not returnable.

My Canon Pixma MP 280 printer will not feed the paper through when printing. A spring has come out from somewhere, where might it go?

Buy a new one bro. Thrift shop has those things for $30. Buying a new one is only like $60-90. No one on earth knows where that spring goes and it's not worth your time if you can throw it back in the box and take it back to the store.

What could the Grinding noise be that is coming from Ricoh Aficio MP C2550 for each page copied/printed?

Check for:
-broken plastic gear on right side of copier
-paper or foreign object in paper path
-paper or foreign object near fuser

Can I scan legal size paper with the Canon MP 240


You can scan the largest size of paper that will fit on the glass area of the scanner (the platten).

If your legal paper fits in this area or, at least the text printed on it fits well within the borders of platten, then you can scan it.

Your scan will show you a preview of the image scanned so you can see if all the text has been scanned from the original document before you save the scanned image on the computer or copy print it.

Legal Paper Size is: 8.5" x 14" (216mm x 356mm)

A4 Paper Size is: 210mm x 297mm

Letter Paper Size is: (8.5" x 11") 216mm X 279mm

This printer's Scanning Width is: A4/Letter

This printer's Scanning Length is: A4/Letter

Canon pixma mp 190 won't scan / copy and printing works!

I also have a newly purchased MP 190 that prints but will not scan at all have also tried reinstalling software.

Paper jam in tray 1

Hi glenpcr,

I had the same problem and solved it.
At my printer it was a problem of the MP-tray (multi purpose tray).
There are two hinges which keep the open MP-tray in a horizontal position. One of this hinges was broken and I just received it.
Just try it.
