Question about Philips Magnavox MWR20V6 DVD Recorder/VCR
I am attempting to make videos to post onto Youtube by possibly making walkthroughs, and some tell me I can use a DVD/VHS DVR to record video game play.
But I am confused, so can someone answer this for me and specify any alternatives if I cannot do this? Also, if I have to use a DVR please make a suggestion along with link to purchase product, but please try making very cost-saving suggestions, I really am tight on budget, at the most 150 dollars.

You need to go into the set up menu and select recording options. On the recording options menu, scroll down to dubbing options. On the dubbing options menu select either VCR to DVD or DVD to VCR.
Recording and Dubbing are not the exactly the same thing. You use the record buttons to record TV directly to VCR/DVD you use the dubbing buttons and set up to record DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
Hope this helps.

I called the manufacturer. They admitted to improper instructions. They provided me a fix to their copying protocol and it worked. Also, they game me instructions on how to fix already copied tapes. It works well and I would have to say I was impressed with their customer/technical service.

You don't necessarily need a code if the DVD player screen is not asking for one. The problem could be that the discs are not finalized - use the same DVD recorder or computer burning software that you used to record the DVD's to finalize the discs. Some programs/players use the word "closing" or "close disc" instead of the word "finalize." If you used the Magnavox to record the DVD's, go into the Settings menu of the Magnavox, select "Disc Edit," and then "Finalize." If the DVD player screen is specifically asking for a code, the user manual for the Magnavox has the universal code in it - it is usually 7-1-1 or 0-7-1-1 for Magnavox. If you have lost the user manual, it is available from either the Magnavox or Funai website, depending on your exact model.
