Hi. When looking for ways to make bath towels soft again, add one-half cup of distilled white vinegar to the first rinse cycle. The vinegar will help make the fabric naturally soft, and it will help remove any leftover detergent or oil within the fibers. The last rinse cycle will get rid of the vinegar smell. In the future, do not overload the machine when doing towels and rags.

When looking for ways to make bath towels soft again, do not overfill the washing machine. The fabric must be able to move freely to remove body oil, leftover soap scum, and anything else that makes towels rough and less absorbent. Place just three bath towels and two hand towels in the machine at once, and adjust the water level to the highest setting. This will ensure the water flows through the fabric and not just around it.

Tip

Treat your skin gently

Limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time, and use warm - rather than hot water.Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers. Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin. Moisturize dry skin. Find a moisturizer that fits your skin type and makes your skin look and feel soft.

This washer is a Kenmore HE2 Plus. Per Sears: "Wash more at once - 3.6 cu. ft. capacity cleans up to 18 bath towels in one load (Based on approximately 24 in. x 44 in. bath towels)"

How do I get bath towels to absorb water?

As your towel is not absorbing then you should shop towel which is made of cotton. Because cotton towels are best in absorbing water and are very durable also.cotton towels only as they are most comfortable and soaks all the water from the body properly. If you want you also can buy from there.

How do you recommend cleaning your stainless range hoods? The outside especially is very greasy, with a nice mixing of dust caked into it. Last owner obviously didn't keep it up!

wash rough dirt off first. Then use a rag and lots of soap to get rid of the grease. Then slightly soak a rag with vinegar. That should put a sparkle on things for you. Also, I use windex but instead of a rag or paper towels, I use newspaper. Just crumple up a piece and use it like a rag. This shines lots of stuff up and works best for cleaning windows inside and out.

My front loading LG washing machine doesn't seem to wash as well as I had expected. Actually the only things that I have noticed this in is the wash cloths and towels. They are getting a gray dingy look to...

Once the dingy look gets into them, it seems to be impossible to get out. It is caused by using too much soap and / or fabric softener. Remember, your front load LG is using only about 12 gallons of water to wash those towels. Your old machine used as much as 45. This means that all wash loads need to use less soaps and fabric softeners. Use 1 tablespoon of regular HE detergent for standard loads. (only a teaspoon if it is 3X HE) Only a teaspoon of fabric softener when you use it. Which brings me to towels. If washing bathtowels: You are clean and rinsed before you use the towel. The towel is not getting dirty, only soaking up the clean water off your body. Hang them on a towel rack and use them several times before washing, and when you do wash bath towels, most of the time you do not need any detergent, as they are really not dirty. Of course you should know that you never use fabric softener on loads of towels. Now, back to the dingyness. The dingy stuff is residual soap / fabric softener in the fabric, which once machine dried seems to be impossible to remove. If they are white towels, make sure to use liquid bleach and you might try to use a little Mrs. Stewart's concentrated liquid blueing in the fabric softener dispenser to see if if might help. Most likely you will have to try a few new towels, washing with no soap or fabric softener when laundered.
Please don't rate this, as it is really just informational, not what most people would call a solution, and any rating other than FixYa drops my score.

Note: If you wash some previously washed towel, using no soap, you should not see any soap suds in the washer. If you do, you are seeing soap left over from the previous washing of the towels or soap from build up on the outer washer tub. Use Whirlaway or AhFresh on tub clean cycle or at least the longest hottest cycle you have, and start using the correct amount of laundry additives. (also will help prevent odor issues)

MY TOWELS ALL COME OUT HARD AND ROUGH

no, the tumble dryer has nothing to do with it. My family always complain about our hard towels. Recently our front loader broke down & I had to hire a top loader til it was fixed - my towels became luxiously soft after just a few washes in it! I think it is how much more the washing is spun out. I am going to try to reduce the front loader spin speed when I get mine back. I never use a dryer on towels - takes too long.
