Camera only dowloads half the pictures on memory card
I have an HP Photosmart E427. When we try and downloaded the images off the digital card to the computer it only downloads some of them. The rest of the images say 'downloading' but there is an X where the image should be - we are using microsoft scanner and camera to do this. The pics are visible while the memory card is in the camera.
This is the second memory card we have that started doing this after awhile. Any suggestions?

Re: Camera only dowloads half the pictures on memory card
I know some of my cameras have a 'on board memory' and chip. Most likly the desired pictures are there, or the memory card conection (in the camera) is not making a full connection. can you clean the contacts?

Check the card and see that the little slide switch on the side is moved to the unlock or clear position. You try to delete images off another card to see if it is the camera that is defective. Is it still under warranty?
Do you want the pictures transferred to your memory card? that depends on the option available on the camera, try inserting the memory card. select a picture then check options if you can move it to a memory card. if not, download it to a computer and transfer it to the memory card folder.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
