If water is continuing to run into the bowl then the flapper that closes off the flush valve is not making a proper seal. The flapper may be warped or the wrong style for your toilet.

You have a leak

make sure you replace everything inside the tank including all washers. you can buy a complete repair kit at any HW store like Home Depot , Lowe's Ace. But find out where the leak is to get it fixed right.

When hooked up to water my toilet will not stop running, does anyone know where the toilet shut valve maybe or is it an easy fix?

I have had this problem several times. The last time I dealt with this, though, our residential plumber showed me where the valve is. For us, it was right behind the toilet. That's where it should be for you as well. One thing that he taught us was to not have the valve turned all the way. That has really helped us to not have the water running constantly anymore. Sealand toilet won't stop taking in water

is it because the float is not being to the required height to shut it off? Is it draining into the bowl/pan at the same time? Could be the flush mechanism is partially active, i.e. it is still slightlyup and has not closed which would cause the inlet valve to remain active/////.
Not a plumber but I have had to install a few toilets, this is what I would expect in a normal , manual flush toilet.

if you can see the water running in the bowl it's a good chance that the flappers warn http://www.aplumbers.com/residential/toilet
1. tank the tank lid off.2. flush the rubber thing that comes up and allows the water to go to the bowl is the flapper 3. remove 4. replace that should fix it.
problem 2
1. tank tank lid off.2. if the waters flowing over the long tube in the center and down then the water level is too high3. adjust the level either it will have a ball **** or a float in either case   a ball **** adjusts by a screw on the fill valve. the float has a either a metal rod w/ a pinch clamp or a plastic long screw type thing.4. adjust water level .5. barely lift handle to allow a little water out til fill valve kicks on then release handle til valve stops .6. just keep re adjusting til you get the water level right there should be a molded in line for the level on the back of the tank.

WATER KEEPS RUNNING ON TOILET

The screw can be used but only for minor adjustments. The missing tube should be replaced. If this doesn't solve the problem purchase a repair kit. The repair kit comes with everything you need for about $20 and can be installed yourself (saving $$$ if you called a plumber)

If he indeed only accessed the toiled shut off valve, then that would not affect the dishwasher.

Even if dirt/sediment got into the line to the washer somehow, it should be able to be cleared at the inlet valve to the washer.

As to you needing to replace the washer, one would need to determine what the problem is first. It could be a very simple and cheap repair.

If he indeed only shut off the toilet valve, then yes, it would be a coincidence that the washer went out the same day.

If you are on city water, then it is possible that if there is construction nearby or anything that would introduce sediment into the line upline from you, that it could have contaminated the washer.

If your toilet was having problems with water flow as well (thus your reason for calling a plumber) then I would strongly suspect that this is the case.

It is possible that both issues were caused by sediment/dirt from your city water source.

Downstairs toilet won't stop filling, upstairs toilet won't fill

for the upstairs if the valve is fully on there is not much you can do other than replace water service to the house or heaven forbid repipe.Valves usually don't restrict fill volume. But you can take the supply loose from the tank and stick it in a bucket turn the valve on and check the flow.this should narrow it down.Down stairs repair or replace flush valve

Toto toilet Power Gravity intermittently running

I suggest that you replace the cap with the new seal, it sounds as tho the valve is not shutting off and the bowl fill tube continues to run. Have you adjusted the water level to 3/4 of an inch below the overflow tube. If not, try that.

My toto toilet keeps running

if its a metal arm connecting the ballcock shut off valve to the float flush it and bend the metal so the float is lower. if u can adjust the ball **** lower then do so. the shut off is not shutting off cause the float isnt going high enough. and the excess is going down the overflow.
