Usually this is due to 3 things

1.How old is the computer?
2.does it have a USB port that supports USB 2.0?
3.What operating system are you using? (Windows XP, Vista, 7) and what service pack (1,2,3)

read the system requirements on the hard drive and see if your system matches

Try a different usb port on the computer. Maybe the usb port you are using is bad.

Try the portable drive on another computer and see if it is recognized. If not, the portable drive might be defective.

How do i down load and view movies on my 1TB eGo Helium 2.0 portable hard drive?

You can't view them on it, it's just for storing the files. To store them you download the file to your pc, connect the drive to the pc and copy them to it in Computer.

Iomga eGo drive data back-up for Vista need transfer to Windows 7

try to connect it to another computer that runs vista, reformatting is never a good thing. the portable hould be read on any other computer, but if you connect to another computer that have vista take it off and keep it on the other computer for a little (like someone elses computer) and put it back on to the computer with windows 7, reformat it and try to put our stuff back on then try again.

I have nexxtech portable kit with a hard drive in it, it worked on windows xp, but winds 7 doesn't reconize it How do I fix this

Try your NexxTech on some other computer, to verify that it still works.

Try some other USB port on your computer.

Try some other USB device into the same USB port that you are trying to use for your NexxTech, to make sure that your computer's USB ports are working correctly.

Check that Windows 7 has loaded the device-drivers for your USB 2.0 ports on your computer's motherboard.

Toshiba 60GB USB 2.0. Portable not recognized in my computer

Check you have the usb 2.0 drivers installed on the computer. You can check this in device manager in the properties of my computer icon. if you havent got USB2 enhanced host controller you havent got the driver.

You can find the Drivers and how to load them at this site:

I am a novice on these things I want to use my portable hard drive as a back up for my Imac I connect the cable to unit one end to computer and where do I connect other cable piece? to the modem?

The portable hard drive's cable is connected to the computer's USB port (socket). The computer will see this as an external hard drive. You can open and create a folder on this hard drive and copies the files such as music, data etc from the computer to the portable drive.

Blue light flashed on the portable hard drive for a couple seconds. How do I know if all files were transfered? Nothing on screen showed up? I have a HP laptop.

If your portable hard drive was set up as the "H" drive, go to My Computer (in Windows XP), or Computer (in VISTA), select your "H" drive and view your files (if there).
