Question about Maytag Dryers

1 Answer

I have had problems with my maytag dryer for the last several months. It is marking many of my clothes with a black mark that looks like charcoal. It will not come off after it has done this. The vent shield in back has been replaced and yesterday my repair man replaced the front tub seal. Today is is marking the clothes worse than before. I think he is puzzled about this. My dryer works great outside of this problem. Can you help?

This sounds reasonable. My repair man has been repairing maytags for years and has always been an excellent repair person.
If I purchase a new dryer, What would you recommend as the best brand to purchase. I know that Maytag is not made by the same people now. I purchased my dryer about 20 yrs. ago and it has given great service until now.

The black marks are from the burners housing with the soot coming in. I had the same problem and had to replace the burner. The black carbon that comes in with the residue from the wetness tends to burn right into the fabric. It would be best to replace the dryer since the cost outweighs the age and well worth replacing instead

Maytag Neptune Dryer Not Drying Well, Leaves Brown Marks on Clothing. Seems like there may be multiple problems. Suggestions?

Sounds to me like an air-flow problem. Poor air-flow means dryer gets hot and scorches clothes but there is nowhere for the wet air to go, so it doesn't dry well. Check for lint-clogged ducting from the back of the dryer to the outside (or at least check both ends of the duct). Also check for a collapsed or clogged flexible tube that goes from the dryer to the duct work.
An over-heated dryer could also have warped the (usually) plastic lint filter.

Dryer drys great. is leaving black marks on clothes

Are the black marks a result of an ink stain in the drum or is the black marks coming for the dryer seal?

If they are coming from an ink stain then alcohol or hair spray with paper towels will normally get them off the drum.

If the black marks are coming from the seal, that means that the seal is not positioned correctly and would require that the dryer be disassebled and a new seal be installed.

Maytag dryer is leaving black marks or rings on clothes

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these: Rollers Rear seal Front glides Front seal Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set. Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it. Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set. Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer may get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the seal wears out, you need to replace it.

I have a Maytag Neptune gas dryer and recently light colored clothes are coming out with small black marks on them; it looks like grease/oil stains. Where could this be coming from?

my first guess would be something ,someone placed in dryer perhaps coveralls or oily clothing. There is no place that I am aware of on a dryer where you could pick up oil leaks from ..are you sure you did not have a lint fire, the oil stains may be soot

Dryer squeeking while tumbling & leaves black smudge on clothes

it sounds like a drum support roller is going bad or the belt idler pulley. i think maytag has a kick panel on the bottom that can be removed. look inside with a flashlight and you may be able to see something. if not, you may have to take the drum out to get a really good look. make a note and study how the drive belt serpentines around the motor, pulley, and drum so you can get it back together.

Black mark on clothes after washed in Maytag top load washer.

Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.

bad rollers could be making black dust but the real problem is the tumblers seals letting the roller dust get into the tumblers and on to you clothes.

Black or brown makers are from the faulty or damaged tumblers seals you have one in the frount and one back...

I can help you strp by step if you want to do it yourself.
