My existing system uses a normal cigar lighter type plug, red and black wires only, I am trying to instal the sound storm SD160ua and need to know how to get this system working with the supplied plugs red/black/yellow/blue set up this is to paly in the back of a conversion van with an existing TV/video set up

I suggest that you throw the lighter out the window and just plug the usb part into the lighter socket
but if you want to go ahead , the red wire will be the power wire and the black wire the ground wire
the other wire will probably be for the small light in the lighter edge to show you where the hole is in the dark

My info shows a separate power outlet, will that work for your charger?

At the cigar lighter, red wire is voltage and black wire is ground. You have to have both or it won't work.

The fuse could be burnt out, the lighter coil could be burnt out, or the hot wire or ground could be loose.

You should have 2 wires with clips = one red that you clip on the Positive [ + ] post of the battery, this may be marked red on the cable. The other black clips to the Negitive [ - ] post of the battery.
Don't plug in the charger untill you clip the wires to the battery, make sure the charger is set to 12 volts. If your cherger has a cigar lighter wire just plug it in to the dash port.

there could be no screw, maybe clippers holds that. try pull the frame with hand to unclip, could be bad connection in back of cigar lighter or bad wiring

The cigar lighter is installed from the back of the center trim panel.

To remove the center trim panel, open the ash tray and pull out on each lower corner. It will be hard the 1st time you remove the spring clips. Once the lower part is released, work your way up to the top, there are 3 spring clips on each side of the center trim panel. ( circled in black in the picture below )
When you get to the top, be careful how far out you pull, the Passenger airbag deactivation light is at the top, with 2 small wires to it. ( circled in green )


Once you have the center panel released, you can remove the HVAC connector ( clamp over type connectors ) or work on it in the truck.

Remove the cigar lighter connector, and release the locking tabs on the cigar lighter body. Pull the lighter plug through the front of the panel.

U need to replace the cigar lighter element it is shorted, very common problem.

all you need to do is find a continuous live 12v feed, usually the cigar lighter, join the red wire from the cb, to this feed, and the black wire from the cb is the earth, and fit a mag-mount cb arial

so you replaced a blown fuse to the cigar lighter and it still dosent work?.. then the wiring was compromised before the fuse blew..you need to repair bad wiring to cigar lighter and/or lighter itself internally melted /failed due to your air pump asking for more electricity than the cigar lighter could deliver..once repaired do not use the air pump there again ..good luck
