PUMP JUST RUNS AND WONT SHUT OFF MQ3-45

DOES THIS SYSTEM FEED YOUR HOME.DOES IT HAVE PSI TANK. WHAT COULD BE HAPPENING.IS.THERE IS A PRESSURE SWITCH (fyg-2) THAT WAS INSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM. THIS ITEM, DEPENDING ON IT'S MANUFACTURE.COME PRESET AT 20/40 PSI OR 30/50 PSI OR 40/60 PSI. THAT MEANS ON START/OFF START PSI. SO IF YOUR PUMP CONTINUES TO PUMP AND WON'T TURN OFF.YOUR SYSTEM PUMPS MAY HAVE SOME WEAR TO IT OR A POSSIBLE HOLE IN THE DROP PIPE THAT IS NOT ALLOWING YOUR SYSTEM TO REACH PSI THAT IT SET FOR. ALL U HAVE TO DO IS READJUST THE PRESSURE SWITCH TO THE PSI READING THAT IS ON PSI GAUGE.

Get a good tire pressure gauge insert it into the bottom of the tank, you should read about
12psi-20psi., depending on your system. If you get no reading or unstable reading, morethan likely you need to add air. Try to add air, if it wont accept it find a place to bleed water out
of the system. Is this a water heater or a boiler?

The booster should have been placed after you restrooms with a check valve to prevent back-pressure. then you can adjust both the sub-pump pressure, and the booster pressure accordingly

it could be the differential in pressure between the cold water from your booster pump and the hot water from your solar water heater . the cold water which feeds your solar heater is probably being reduced in pressure by a pressure reducing valve . so what you need is equal pressure on both your hot and cold water system you could install a pressure reducing valve on the pipe thart feeds your cold taps etc valve set at the same pressure as the one on the solar water heater that would give you a balanced hot and cold water system

Grundfos pump leaking?

If it is starting and stopping, it most likely does have some type of leak. The check vavlve is normally installed on the suction side of the pump, and sometimes instead of a check vavlve or in addition to, there is a foot valve. A foot valve is just a check valve (usually with a screen) at the end of the line in the bottom of the cistern. If you have much suction lift, and the check valve leaks (or any leak in the suction piping) then the water will drop back into the cistern. This will also cause the discharge side of the pump system to drop in pressure, causing the pump to restart. You mentioned removeing the pressure tank, that tank keeps the pump from short cycling when you have low demand on the system. If the pump is higher than the cistern, and you don't see a check valve between cistern and pump then you most likely have a foot vavle in the cistern. Hopefully it's accessable by removing the pipe.

Hi there, what should the tank pressure be , please? The custemor says that the pump keeps on hunting(stop/starts all the time)

set at what ever the cut out on the pressure regulator is set at- if set to cut off[out]at 50 will pressurize tank to 50 and stop pump- will come on when flow brings pressure down and what ever pressure on is set at --if short cycling -bad regulator -set wrong- air bladder bad in tank-motor overheating -binding [[[

If you have valves at the pre tank you can run it till it shuts down then close the inlet valve and the outlet valve. Wait and see if it goes on again. If so you have a problem in the pressure tank or the switch mech. If not open the outlet valve and wait. If it starts you have a leak somewhere in the house. If not open the intake valve and see what happens. If it kicks on then you have a problem with you check od backflow valve. If this is a shallow well pump it could be in the supply line also. Good luck.
