My oleo-mac 962 loses power after 20 minuets of cutting

Hello John McLauchlan,

Two areas will cause your saw to heat-up & lose power.

You basic CARB MIXTURE is running too lean...

or...

If you are not mixing ENOUGH 2-cycle oil into your fuel...
You saw will build friction... and actually STOP.

IF you ARE getting 20 minutes before a power loss.. that means your OIL/FUEL mixture is really close TO CORRECT.

Simply note the fuel to oil ratio and increase it...

PROPERLY adjusted
You saw should be able to run for entire shifts...!!

Slows down and stops when trying to cut hardwood

You just do not have a saw that has enough power, the blade is dull or both. Change your blade and push the wood through slower or get a more powerful saw for the hard woods.

Saw runs for 5 minutes and bogs out

This is sometimes caused by dirt in the gas tank. When the saw is off and being moved around the dirt settles to the bottom. The saw will start OK and rev up but after a while the dirt gets shaken up and sticks to the fuel filter in the tank. When enough dirt covers the filter the saw looses power or dies all together. Sometimes it will get enough gas to idle but not enough to run at high speed. With the tank half full, shake the saw to get all the dirt stired up and dump it out. Put a little gas in it and shake & dump it again. If you can fish the fuel line with the filter on it out, remove the filter and either replace it or blow it out. If this doesn't cure all your problems you may have leaks in the fuel line to the carb that are letting in more air than gas causing your power problems.

Piston rings are gaulded or stuck, easy to change and fairly inexpensive if you buy aftermarket parts on ebay. I believe piston, rings, and cylinder (if you need it) for less than $100.

Ensure that blades are sharp, the material you are cutting is not greater than the rating of the saw.

Husqvarna 345 power loss and vibrates

Replace the bar. Your bar has gone bad and that is why you are losing power. Bars are made by the chain saws to be completely oiled at all times. When the bar does not get oil the bar will start to warp and that is what will cause you lack of power when trying to due a top cut

Cordless or cord saw Comparison

Cordless tools lose power as the battery drains, while corded tools deliver reliable, consistent performance with unlimited run time. Corded reciprocating saws range from less than 5 amps to 15 amps or more, with more than 10 amps providing optimal power for heavy-duty commercial use.
