Question about Kenmore 62802 Electric Dryer
Hi, I have a Kenmore Elite electric dryer model# 110.64942300 which is about 5 years old. 5 months ago, no heat, so I replaced the high limit thermostat. Now 5 months later, the thermal fuse is blown. Could my heating element be causing these issues? How many ohms should my element be operating at??? If it meters out too high, then I'll replace it too. Please advise. Thanks, Ross
If your fuse is blown could be that your operating thermastat is not shuting off as soon as it should. Try replacing the fuse and the operating thermastat. The fuse would probaly blow before the hi limit.

Pull one wire off the element and start the dryer in a heat cycle . Check power from that wire to the cabinet . Touch the meter to the terminal you pulled that wire off of , and check that voltage . You cannot get correct voltage by checking across the element . Trace the wire NOT getting 120 volts . It will either go to the timer or motor . It will lead you to the problem .

there is thermal fuse, Hi limit, and thermistor. the thermistor should have continuity at room temp I don't know what resistence(ohms) it should have. Most units I have seen provide a schematic and trouble shooting guide taped under the control panel for service personal.
