Toshiba 40FT1U TV won't turn on. Lightning pulse

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be on a separate board, or on the part of its main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Can't determine the condition of the power supply board, by just examining the fuse; you know. Contact any service technician.

Toshiba vcr operates for a few seconds then shuts down

When a VCR encounters a problem with the drive mechanism the unit will shut itself off to prevent further damage. You should take the top cover off and look around at the mechanical section for damage. If you can't see anything, leaving the top off, insert a video and watch what happens to it. This will give you a clue to the problem.

Toshiba 37AV500U damaged thru HDMI input.

The lightning stroke has been effected to the main digital board to your TV. It will be best to replace the main digital board as card basis, rather than trying to repair it. Before replacing the board, a through checkup should be done. Contact any expereienced service technician for help, as this work is a very skilled one. No body can predict about the damages to a lightning stroke, as there will be trillions of voltage present for every stroke, and even a slightest voltage can damage so many components in a TV like equipment, as it is designed to work for 110 or 220VAC.

I have a Toshiba W727. I have all new recording tapes. Recently when I playback the tape, the picture bounces, even though the actual picture on the TV did not bounce. I have used a tape to clean the...

Open up the front of the VHS tape and look at the tape inside. It should be nice and smooth. If it is not the video machine has damaged the tape and it will bounce and make a mess of the video heads again. If the tape is crinkled at the bottom side the pinch roller on the VCR is worn and needs replacing. If there is no damage to the tape. Then all you need do is give the video heads and any part that touches the tape a good clean. To do this you unplug from the mains the power lead. Remove the top cover of the VCR and with some Servisol Video 40 Spray clean the heads etc. You can use a cotton bud to get into corners. Leave to dry for about 10 minutes. And re-asemble to try a tape.

You can find the Servisol on-line.
PS if you have never seen inside a VCR before, after you have taken the top off plug the power lead back in, you don't need any other connections and play a tape and watch where the tape touches. Take the tape out and pull the plug! Then clean!
Cleaning like this is much better than a tape.

Coax connection pulled out

ok this is a common thing i repair alot of these at the shop. most teechnician can resolder these back on or replace. just depends of if the curcit boarcd was damaged when it was broke. about 20 percent of the time it damages the tuner. However i can give you another option. use another input/ you can take a vcr and useing the rca cables yellow, for video and red and white for audio and fplug your cable to vcr then vcr to tv. You will have to use your vcr to change channels until you can get it repaired. essiental using your vcr as your tv's tuner

Denon receiver just struck by lightning.

Any time a unit is hit by lightning, it is usually a total loss. While the initial problem may be fixable, other components have been stressed and are likely to fail. Most shops won't work on these units because of the likelyhood of continual failures. Warranties won't be given or the repairs. In your specific case, the switching IC has been damaged and needs to be replaced as well as the surround processing section. This is best handled as an insurance claim for replacement.
