First of all you will need to cross check the remote with a sensor to confirm. If not while using the remote check for change in voltage in the input of the sensor inthe amplifier. If there is no change then check for failrueof the remote IR emitter/ the remote controller IC or bad tracks. Check this out. If sensor is detecting then trace to the microprocessor of the Amp for any connection issues, solder the joints in this circuit. Sometimes the idications shows on remote but may have a wrong frequency. So check the crystal on the remote. helpful I hope. Good day

My new Tivo OTA DVR remote seems to be draining batteries rapidly.

Internal circuit fault to remote control. No remedy; other than buying a new one. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the sites.

Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Visit some on-line sites too, which deals with electronic spare parts.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

The light on the remote is just a battery indicator light. I would try changing the dip switches in the receiver & transmitter first. If that doesn't work, you probably need a new receiver. Good luck since this is a cheap store brand.

The remote won;t work

If it's a "Universal" remote and you've changed the batteries, you'll need to reprogram it according to the make/model of the remote. A remote that came with your receiver....

1. Check batteries, they may be dead or dying.
2. Is something blocking the remote receiving window on the receiver?

Remotes use infrared light to transmit to their matching devices and MUST have a line-of-sight path to work properly.
