Question about Dell Inspiron 1200 14.1 XGA LCD Display-320-4222 (3204222) CD-ROM Drive
I have a Dell Inspiron 1200 3 seconds into power on, the LEDs light up, then the laptop just powers off. It will not get to the Dell splash screen. I've removed the battery, memory, hard drive, & CD-ROM, and the symptoms don't change. I believe it has onboard memory, because this current stick of memory was added after purchase. BIOS is at the A07 level, which is still the most current. Thanks for help.
There are two memory slots on this model, but there is no "Onboard" memory. Without the memory that you removed, your laptop will not post. It sounds like a dead motherboard issue to me, especially since you have pretty much torn it down to barebones. Rarely, this can also be caused by the processor but it is less likely. Unfortunately, since you cannot keep it running, there isn't much chance of diagnostics. I hope this helped.
