Need passkey for a motorola H700. it says it can connect to my pantech jest 2 and i need the passkey

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key) To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I just got a new laptop and I am trying to connect to the internet through the wireless router. It keeps asking for a passkey but i don't remember what it is.Using a computer already connected, I tried...

well, you were close with addresses you typed in.
The correct one for belkin is: 192.168.2.1
However, if it's asking you for the passkey, then you probably have to reset the router to factory default...i.e. no security settings or password at all.

But, before you do that, go to one of the 192.168 pages, whichever one asked for a passkey, and just leave the box blank and press enter, see if that allows you access to the router.

That is what it will be if you haven't ever given it a passkey of your own.

I hope this info is helpful, but if you have to, then perform a reset of the router.

To do this, , with the power on you will need to push in and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds. The hole for the reset button will be located on the back or on the side of the unit, it is a small hole, so you will need to use a paper clip
Afetr 10-15 seconds of holding the button in, remove the paper clip, and wait 60 seconds.

Your router is now reset back to factory original

Check the security settings in Router. If you applied any Passkey then try to change with new one. Try in ipod with new passkey. It should connect to router.

I need to find the security key to add a laptop

Go to a computer that is already connected to the network or connect the new laptop to the router with a cable. Once you have access to either of the two options click on start and go to RUN. Type CMD and then in the CMD window type IPCONFIG. You'll get an IP address and default gateway (Eg. 192.168.0.1). Note the Default gateway. Open Internet Explorer and type the default gateway ip address in the address bar and hit enter. You'll be prompted for a username and password. Onmost it is either Username - admin Password - password or admin admin if you have'nt chnaged it. Once in tghe router home page go to the wireless eetup and check the passkey there or change it. Use the key from the page to connect. if you change the key you'll have to reconnect all systems to the network again with the new key.

Rate if useful.

Getting the security to go through on laptop

You just need to re-enter the passkey you set-up on the router to re-connect.

If you don't know this, go into the router configuration page (you may need to use a physical network cable to do this) and reset the passkey to a new one.

Secure internet connection

Hi,

To secure a wireless network connection, either WEP or PSK has to be enable in the LinkSys router and a passkey designated/chose. This passkey must then be likewise encoded into your HP notebook wireless networking.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

How does your Daughter's computer connect? You state that yours connects directly, does here's connect via wireless connection? If so, then you'll merely need to view wireless connections with her PC and select your Linksys router and click on the connect button after which you should be prompted to enter your passkey/pass phrase to connect to your network. If you cannot remember the passkey, then do as suggested above and reset your router to default settings by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds or so while it's powered on and that should reset it to default with no security. Just make sure to enter the address 192.168.1.1 to address your router and re enable your security. I believe the default User Name is Liksys, and Password is Admin for your WRT54G Router.
Good luck.

Trying to connect between cable pc xp edition and new dell vista laptop

the SSID is only the name which your connection is called.
If you have security enabled, you will need to type in the passkey when asked.

First go to internet explorer open it and go to tools>connections tab, then tick 'never dial a connection' and close I. Explorer.

go to control panel>network connections>right click on your wireless connection icon, then go to the TCP/IP line, highlight it, click properties, then select 'Obtain IP address automatically.

Select Ok, then close window, go to internet explorer, then open it up and you may need to click refresh a few times ,but should connect
