My computer sound is not working

first off, is the driver properly installed?
To verify this, go to
(Windowx XP\Vista\7)

Control Panel
System
Device Manager\hardware

Sound and Video Controllers
Look for yellow exclamation mark, or a red x under the sound and video game options
if you see either marks, right click on the device in question and look for 'update driver', or enable device.

If there are no marks (yellow exclamation, or red x) then the sound card is likely installed and is just muted.

look in the system tray for a speaker icon, right click on it, look for a unmute option, or trey raising the volume

HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GSA-H21N ATA Device is not working gives a code 10....tried for new drivers was all updated..tried to uninstall and reboot then reinstall nada. This is a acer comp.

Right click on “Computer” or “My Computer” in XP. Select Manage and then on the right side select device manager. On the left if you see a yellow exclamation mark next to your drive and were getting any of the above error codes then we have a simple fix.
Go ahead and right click on the CD or DVD drive that has a yellow exclamation mark next to it and select delete or remove.

try to search:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Now that you are at the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Folder on the right side you will see several entries. right Click and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters. These will be remade once you reboot.

This will try to look for the drivers again..

Yes, there are three yellow question marks NEXT TO EACH STATED BELOW 1.?other devices 2.?ethernet controller 3.?mulitimedia audio controller

Ok that means you need a driver for each of those. You will either have to go to the manufacture website (ex. dell.com) or the motherboard manufacture (if you built it yourself) look up the correct model pc/motherboard and download the drivers for each item (ethernet, multimedia controler). After you run each of the downloads either it will remove the exclamation mark or if not you can right click the item with exclamation and hit "update driver" and click next through all the menus and it should install.

USB Ports Not working

you need to go to device manager and look in the list at the bottom for the usb root hub and see if there are any red crosses or exclamation marks, red crosses mean device dissabled, exclamation means not recognised and no suitable driver. click on the link below and select motherboard downloads for the usb drivers http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?param=usb&st=kw If you do find that the motherboard is faulty, then you can purchase a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card, as long as your notebook has the PCMCIA slot, as i am sure it has.

you have the driver instaled for the card, but is the cardbus controller installed, go to device manager and look at pcmcia line and see if controller is there, or whether there is an exclamation mark on other unknown devices. You will need to go to the compaq site and identify the driver for the pcmcia controller
